McSweeney-Cullerton Measure to Curb Local Government Spending Headed to the Governor

McSweeney-Cullerton Measure to Curb Local Government Spending Headed to the Governor

If signed this could directly impact Peru because we have several people who are on the payroll whose name we see frequently on the expenditure accounting. You know who they are if you read and keep track of their jaunts about on unnecessary "business" trips.

Sort of like expensing a downtown Chicago hotel. That annual boondoggle is a two hour drive and none of the events start before 9:00AM. If they want to go to the conference, fine. But don't spend the night at a 5 Star hotel and charge three meals a day. Drive up in the morning AFTER you make your own breakfast, attend the seminars you want to see, have a hot dog for lunch, and drive back in the afternoon. There... one tank of gas + mileage + $15.00 for a Downtown Chicago Dog.

Check out the committee as a whole agenda for Monday. It says they will be discussing "Township consolidation". Interesting! I wonder if they will have time since they're starting the meeting with a closed session.

While out today, we observed many young people and some adults working on cleaning sidewalks, curbs etc from Monks Av where we went out to the last street and they were seen in multiple locations. Many around the 251 and rte 6 interchange. On their blue shirts were the words Hope Week. Does anyone know what was going on?.
We saw them in many locations from Monks to the end of town and were working in groups. Some had cans of something that they must have been spraying and some were sweeping. I'm sure we did not hire them but don't we have public service employees to do this? Anyone know?

Yes. These are volunteers from Ax Church and other local churches who are working together this week to help with various projects throughout the Illinois . This is the second year of "Hope Week".

Please thank the young people for the good work they did. Much of the area they were working on needed some cleanup.
Wonder what they were spraying on the foilage?

Speaking of thanks, the members of the Peru Library Board deserve some for their work planting the flowers on their own time at the library.

The library board has been planting flowers for years on their own time and your absolutely correct 7:59 a big thank you goes out to them for ALL they do.

It would be interesting to see all of our elected invoices from out-of town adventures.

The flowers are nice. Isn't the former Peru city employee horticultralsit the Library board President?

$94,000 was spent on concrete for the new public works building. That's alot of money!

That could have purchased an entire steel building. I astonished that the City of Peru has that many vehicles to park.

Strange the new republicans want more government. bernabei and studer have are backs so thanks

Republicans what efficient government. Not necessarily big or small. But efficient.
