When is the Second Annual Peru Fireworks Celebration in honor of organized union workers this Labor Day weekend? Must be Saturday down on Water Street, right? Fireworks, CSO Beer Garden, Bounce House?
Peru does it right in honor of union labor. Loved last year's celebration. This year will will be even better.
See you all down there. Go Peru! Go Union!

There will be no Labor Rally this year. The annual burning of hundred dollar bills on July 4th was cancelled this year, not postponed to Communism Day.

12:57, what a sick comment, grow up!

10:38, well it is the truth. The American Labor movement is nothing but a front for the communist party.

11:04, who was your history teacher, Lenin!!

10:48, If I learned history from Lenin then I'd embrace Communism and the Unions. No, I like the free market, not the communist labor unions. Right to Work in Illinois !!!

10:48 You would have to admit that without unions most people would not have advanced economically to the level they achieved. I admit that a union not only has the privilege of being a closed shop within a closed shop allowing only union employees to work on a job or they strike and they are also closed to relation and friends as eligible to rights of membership.
Unions have been known to strike a business which has sent them a opportunity to apply for employment which they did not respond. They also tarnish a community with a blown up rat indicating non union members are employed on a job which they refer to call scabs. In no way should a union be allowed to limit the employment of someone who has not been admitted to their organization or chooses not be join and remain independent.
Your "Right to Work" in Illinois is having a very strong movement and especially backed by the younger age entering the working sect. This is a group which is used to and accepts being judged on their own ability and attitude and believe a unions main objective is to hide certain deficiencies behind numbers. They are constantly questioning and testing organized labors contractual clauses. It seems that the United States is presently more adaptable to Right to Work than a closed union shop. I realize that a union is to represent all of is members, most times if not always if the member is right or wrong, but truthfully is this the way America is meant to be?

9:05 - socialism and communism are short lived propositions. The unions do not understand this. In the 1980's, the UAW was demanding $25.00 an hour for broom pushers. That is not sustainable. That is what caused the demise of Detroit as many manufacturers moved to non unions states. Only now are they starting to see a resurgence - and guess what. Michigan is a Right to Work state.

3:46 Thank you for your open viewpoint. Your train of thought gives all a opportunity to think. What we have to learn is that a short range solution may double the problem down the road.
Remember the days, not long ago, when there was enough money that all you had to do was ask for your share of the pie and you got it. Now if you ask everybody that is capable flees to a different state.
3:46 do you believe that becoming a Right to Work state is presently the best solution for Illinois and why or why not?
