This blog is maintained for the sole purpose of allowing the people of Peru and those interested in the cities of the Illinois Valley to express their views.
“It doesn’t take a majority to win, just a tireless minority that will keep starting brush fires in the mind and hearts of their fellow men.” Samuel Adams
I thought perhaps many people here in Peru are not aware how easy it is to review minutes from committees and council meetings all easily accessible through the city of Peru web site. Take a few minutes to see what your aldermen are discussing.
Yes… but no minutes or agendas for Streets & Alleys. Has this committee met in the last year? We’ve had meeting ad nauseam on the pool – but little discussion about our streets. Just vague references in the council meetings about “Aldermen need to get their list in.” I know the 2010 plan was scrapped due to lack of funds… but what of the 2011 plan? We can’t wait until April (like we did last year) to even start the planning. We should be putting jobs out for bid now.
BRIAN YOU ARE RIGHT, IF THEY DON'T GET STARTED ON OUR ROADS, WE ARE GOING TO NEED A HORSE AND BUGGY. I KNOW YOU CAN'T BLACKTOP IN THIS WEATHER, BUT ALSO THEY SHOULD NOT WASTE ANY MONEY ON PATCHING, IT WON'T LAST. BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE BIDS OUT TO GET STARTED IN EARYLY SPRING. DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS COUNCIL WILL DO IT????
And who can we get to put pressure on the state to do the work on Rt. 6 from Webster Park to I39? The state has reworked many much less traveled roads south of here. By summer the tire stores will be doing brisk business and maybe we'll be seeing a few accidents to boot.
Brian - I believe there aren't any minutes or agendas posted for quit a few committees (i.e. Health, Buildings and Grounds, ESDA, Airport, and License). I don't know when and if they meet and what is discussed during their meetings.
