Cities will Celebrate with Santa Tomorrow

Just as a reminder tomorrow Peru will have a Christmas Parade through town, starting at HB Cabinet (old Coke plant) and will go to the Fire Station. Starting time is 1:30PM If you can't make that, you might check the News Trib. for the schedule of events La Salle is planning including a parade with a walking Santa Claus and also some indoor activities.

Why did Peru opt to have their Christmas and Pearl Harbor day parades on the same day?

Very good question and I don't have an answer. I did sit in on a Finance meeting where Ald. Ankiewicz and Mikyska made sure all was right with Pearl Harbor but heard no mention of the Santa parade. Looks like the weather is going to make it a real Christmas Parade. Could be he above mentioned did not plan on going 2 both of them.

"correction" Could be the above mentioned......

You are probably right Lois. If I recall I also believe the Finance committee approved extra money so the Peru Municipal band would play for the Pearl Harbor celebration but not for Xmas parade. Which parade do you think would draw the most interest? What are our aldermen thinking sometimes?

I don't know if you read the other blog, in town, but I think that Kristy is loseing her mind. Whatever possed her to crash the city party. She had no business there. I think shes cracking up. g

I agree she had no business crashing the city party but I would like to know if her statement is true about the city paying for the party. I don't think with finances as they are that a xmas party is a top priority.

It was a campaign party not a christmas party. A special thank you to all those who help to make our city better. It was paid for by stuff the city workers picked up while they were working. What's the big deal. If the mayor wants to spend his time partying with the crew that's his business. He helped remove the workers from the slavery. We love the new mayor, he doesn't listen to the old cook aldermen. Thank God they are not involved in the day to day happenings of the city.

Sorry ANON 6:11 but you don't make any sense to me. Please explain who's campaigning and for what. Please also explain what the workers picked up that paid for the party.

There has been reference made on the other blog regarding a New Orleans trip. Do you know anything about that Lois?

It is a shame we need a party to get workers to get the job done of which we as taxpayers are expecting to be completed for the paycheck they receive. I am not supprised that the city would pay for this out of a zero balance budget but yet want to raise our tax levy by 4.9%, just under the 5% limit so not discussion would occur among the public.
Who is playing games with our money, My Hyalla and the Mayor, that's who.
Great people elected , what a crock !

Where ever you are getting your information, they are lying to you. The party was NOT paid for by the city, the city did not sponsor a Christmas Party this year for their employees.

They had a party like they used to have years ago. The only difference is they had it at a bar, instead of the barn. You all pitch in, some things are donated by Consumers, Some wives used to cook things, THE CITY DIDN'T PAY FOR ANYTHING BUT THE LIGHTS ON IN THE BUILDING.
COME ON SOME OF YOU, WHO FIND SOMETHING WRONG WITH EVERYTHING, IF THE WORKERS WANT TO PITCH IN FOR A CHRISTMAS PARTY, LEAVE THEM ALONE. ESPECIALLY YOU KRISTI! MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL YOU CITY WORKERS. THANK YOU

Just wondering why we never see Mayor Harl at any of the Holiday parades in town. Come to think of it, I did not see him at the airport runway dedication either. Where do his priorities lie?

Peru Town Forum said...

You know that being Mayor is considered a part time job in Peru and Mayor Harl works at Cattani Crane as his day to day job. He has said this fall they have been short handed due to injury or illness and he has had to put in more hours at that job than previously. That is why he was not at the runway dedication. Just heard via the rumor grapevine that he was told by the Aldermen that he did not need to come to the Pearl Harbor dedication. I will check on that one. Don't know about the Christmas Parade, was he not there?

He was not at the christmas parade or the halloween parade for the past two years

I will get an answer for you on the absence of the Mayor at the events.

The Mayor said that he was working in his office during the Halloween Parade, He did attend the Pearl Harbor event and then he was out of town for the Christmas Parade. He also said that he would try to make an appearance at more events. thank you for asking.
