Taxpayers spend tens of thousands on Illinois municipal conference

Taxpayers spend tens of thousands on Illinois municipal conference This is one of numerous articles by the same source doing some investigation of the needless cost to taxpayers by officials going to the IML yearly. We have been writing this up since the first Harl administration and I am sure you can find comments on previous trips in our archives. This is the first I am adding and will follow with the one about Peru and La Salle.

This story means nothing unless you give us who and when. Officials spending tax money for education is needed. Please include those on the county board and township. Names and money.

I am not the owner of this blogsite and like yourself I have never been a owner. If everyone would answer the blogs subject as you have the blogs owner would need a answering staff from Peru to Chicago standing back to back.

The blogs comment has done its job by creating your interest could you please go a step further in your interest by researching the answers to some of your own questions? This is what I often do and it is surprising what I have learned besides the fun I've had. If you do not have the time please continue sending in your very thoughtful comments.

Back in 2013, I wrote an article for the blog titled "IML Convention Gone But Not Forgotten' which can be found in the archives to search older information here on the blog.

I just noted that at the time there were 181 comments written. Why in 2017 has interested in city waned to the point of 2 comments on a very important subject. Have the residents given up and just don't care who or how this city is run? This certainly gives all of us reason to consider our role in making a city work for all of us and not just for a few. Check the disbursements, you will frequent mayoral visits to Springfield which we pay for. Have you noticed the big and bold sign at the new city parking lot which leads one to wonder why ? What local businessman has several close by businesses?

Along the same lines that 7:10 on Dec. 6th posted, has anyone else noticed how often the leaf vac just seems to be riding around the neighborhood looking for leaf piles? I thought they were assigned certain sections of town on certain days yet they seem to be all over. Another example of your tax dollar hard at work? Especially after several days of high winds blowing the leaves to who knows where.

The city crew is a very efficient and dedicated group of people whose limitation truthfully is the upper management chosen to direct them by Mayor Harl. If they are riding around looking for leaf piles the cause is managements for not knowing where to direct them day by day, for not having a better system and work procedures in action and also for not having efficient communications with the city workers. The present leadership has spent more time devising employer-employee work rules to limit any expression of the city employees than they have in creating a good working environment. Good, hard working people realize that authority is created by the respect one earns and that a individual in charge who is not respected will never have authority no matter how much better he believes he is than everyone else.

Yes, well said 4:44 but it's sad because it's our tax dollar being abused and misused.
