Prime viewing spots for the Ottawa fireworks display will be closed because of the river flooding. The darn rain affects many areas. Oglesby had to shoot theirs in the rain and many had to leave.
I don't know if this thread is still open, but I just saw a post on Facebook by the Peru Illinois Fire Department regarding the dangers of fireworks. They conveniently left out the fact that according to the Fireworks Use Act of the State of Illinois....fireworks are ILLEGAL, except for some consumer fireworks that a person is required to get a permit to use. As someone who is negatively affected by the professional fireworks that go off in my neighborhood every year, I'm elated that I found something interesting today that I would like to share with other "party poopers". The State Fire Marshal's website has a lot of info on fireworks...what's legal, and what isn't...PLUS, in the 9th section down, I found a COMPLAINT FORM that can be filled out by "citizens that witness a violation" of the Fireworks Use Act, and can be sent in electronically! I intend to be using this form this year!
