This blog is maintained for the sole purpose of allowing the people of Peru and those interested in the cities of the Illinois Valley to express their views.

Wow a citizens arrest because the board did not allow public comment.

It really does illustrate the fact that public bodies like Peru's city council will continue to skirt the laws pertaing to the OMA unless someone brings the issue to the forefront with action similar to the Citizens Arrest. I guess Peru needs a citizen crusader to step up. Any takers? Who will lead the charge?
I understand that there were pictures on facebook depicting the adults taking pickleball lessons on the newly created court at Washington Park. I hope the players themselves are enjoying the new court and putting it to good use. I can say that I am pleased to announce that it seems as though people are pleased to see the tennis court back at 28th street park because it is already being used on a daily basis. Hope the courts continue to be used and enjoyed!!!
I just read Kristys latest blog post on her written complaint to the Consumer Fraud division of the Illinois AG. She has guts, very detail oriented.
It is a little scattershot, not that all her points would not possibly be relevant to a criminal fraud investigation. But the Consumer Fraud division is most interested in deception and harm to consumers in transactions, goods and services received. I forwarded it to a slightly different consumer group. I hope they contact her. They tend to get better results.
Please don't give any credibility to Kristy's blog...it's all over the place...very sarcastic and not surprisingly, not very positive in offering solutions to her perceived issues.
6;26 Please dont tell me what to do. I give TREMENDOUS credibility to Kristys blog, for reasons you are totally unaware of. I do think she loses focus and credibility when she drifts into sarcasm and going off focus, but those are style points only. She can rub me the wrong way but it still does not mean I ignore the facts she presents.
There was plenty presented that would warrant a thorough investigation, and if more people complained it would happen.
Its called Peru Airport Funds. I think most people will not be able to follow it well, but her main emphasis seems to be that a huge amount of tax dollars are going to fund this airport, and she cant see who oversees it or what we are getting for it? And that it seems to focus on non aeronautics activities
There was a book series long ago called Letters from a Nut. It was a comedian, I think Seinfield, who wrote crazy questions as a consumer and then would print the odd responses from companies.
You have to read Kristys simple questions to the FAA, and the hilarious, if they were not so sad, bureaucratic BS that comes back.
It was the Lazlo Letters in the mid 1970's. The guy that created the character Father Guido Sarduchi (Don Novello) wrote all kids of silly letters to companies and but worded them quite seriously. He exchanged quite a few letters with the company that makes Mr. Bubble bubble bath complaining that there was a warning on the box that said "keep dry." He said in the letter that the product would not work when it was dry :).

Anon 8:03, how about you, your the one commenting on it?
The difficulty here is that public comment is allowed in a very restrictive format, so that you could not arrest them for that violation.
I am unsure if the violation of the OMA is actionable with arrest or not, and I am certain the law enforcement here would not be supportive.

How different things would be if pickleball had been located at Washington Park in the first place!

I can't find her blog. I looked it up, but it didn't come up in the search.
Just click on the link here on Lois blog.
