Illinois House passes local-government consolidation bill

Illinois House passes local-government consolidation bill

Will the county be willing to disband the useless Peru Twp.? But first lets get this bill thru the Ill. Senate.

The only way that the Peru Township to be disbanded is to change the form of government at the County level to a commission form. That will also limit the number of new "commissioners" - the LaSalle County Board benefit suckers will never allow that.

I have noticed dropping my grand child off at school that two city employees are dropping kids off at school between 8:00 and 8:15...these two same employees are on the clock at 8:00...is this the next payroll scandal...15 minutes a day is costly

7:29 PM, April 20, 2016 - are they using a taxpayer funded vehicle? I often see city vehicles congregating at various fast food joints around town.

How about a police officer dropping his child off in another town to play baseball in a police vehicle. Yes, true, witnessed it and others did also. So, I'm not blowing smoke.

To all, I understand your frustration and i feel your pain regarding the misuse and abuse of taxpayer owned vehicles and all the other various forms of waste, fraud, abuse and excess that is commonplace in all of Peru governement and every Peru department and office. However, you are all wasting your time because Peru's elected officials and department heads not condone this behavior they encourage it by doing it themselves. Not one single Peru elected or appointed city official with any authority to do anything about it will ever make an effort to stop this rampant waste and fraud. To do so would be to "rock the boat" and you would be labeled a "troublemaker". Remeber what happenes to troublemakers in Peru government who rock the boat? They find themselves replaced by phony-ass "team-players" and "go-along to get-along" guys. You will not find a set of b---s on any of this current group of Peru elected officials. Not one set.

So what are you going to do about it? Spouting off here means nothing. File a complaint with the mayor and your aldermen. Call the paper. Complaining here is like crying to mama.

5:29 PM, April 21, 2016 - Public ridicule is a tried and true method of implementing change. Slowly undermining the government through public commentary is effective in the long run. It is called a drip campaign. Pointing out the constant corruption, waste, and idiocy which is the daily norm for City of Peru public officials will eventually make the pubic loose confidence in them. Even today, when Peru is mentioned in the surrounding towns, you can hear a bit of a chuckle.

3:16 They were replaced in a landslide fashion by the voters of Peru! Complaining to the blog is what the blog is for. You have nothing to offer but rumors and your very limited exposure. Please go to the press or the meetings and have some evidence that taxpayer dollars are being abused. The see if they respond. Nobody is expected to jump on posts as being accurate.

9:04 AM, April 22, 2016 - the local press is owned by the government. They will never publish anything bad about our town officials.

7:13 Yes, your right its not about truth. And those rumors don't have to be true to be effective. Just give us some good normal candidate that is respected and has the background to be effective.
