I have a question: If this freezes property tax thais will hurt the school? I am not crazy about paying taxes but Peru schools DO NOT WASTE TAX DOLLARS and need finacial help not less.

12:35 - everyone says that about their own little piece of the pie. Oh... but my schools are good. Its everyone else's. Believe me - every single government on our property tax bill could cut their budget 10% WITHOUT having any impact on the services they provide. They just refuse to look. Now don't get me wrong - the Peru schools do better than some. But they still could use a haircut.

I know that the Peru school district has reduced over 10% of it's employees as the budget has been tightened with funding so don't say they don't look. My grand kids attend the district and I know this has had a big impact but they just continue to do a wonderful job regardless of the challenges. Our family could not be happier and the new buildings are one of the best things we have in Peru. No place is perfect but the school district is excellent.

7:49, what kind of math did you learn in school. They could not have possibly decreased spending while building a new school, building an addition to a school, and are getting ready to demolish a third. The budget goes up or (at best) stays the same every year.
When you decrease spending, the budget goes down!.

I can do math very well thank you. They paid for Parkside with the sales tax and there was no property tax increase. They are paying for Northview with a grant. Of course they are spending money including tearing down washnigton but over the long run it makes much more sense. Peru has the two new schools without wasting money on old buildings. The building costs are separagte anyway and have nothing to do with the school funding and it appears to have been handled very well. If your point is they spent money on the buildings then you are only looking short term. In the long run this all makes perfect sense as a taxpayer.

1:58 take a deep breath. The budget is going UP not DOWN. That is the point on the table. I don't care about the revenue source or if its a good idea. When you spend MORE money from year to year that means budget is increasing.

We need to merge with LaSalle schools and consolidate administration. The cost of the superintendent and his staff could be spread out over a larger base. Could also consolidate contracts for everything from labor to pizza. Makes more sense to have an LP school district.
