Citizens of Peru: Listen very carefully to this video and to your mayor's response to Ms. Noonan's speech. This is, indeed, a political ploy on his part. Also, I'd like to know how this blog can get this information and video to the general public in less than 24 hours. The city's videos seem to mysteriously vanish into thin air. Come on you people who have all the answers. For once respond to citizen requests and questions. (i.e. where has the money that was previously allotted for pool maintenance gone? into the general fund?)

Give her credit she has the right to believe that in America you can have anything you want without paying for it. Why not charge it or put it on a budget and never have the responsibility of paying for it? We can say that she's not a candidate for the tea-party.

Has the city council meeting video program been disbanded. I have constantly made a effort to watch these meetings but for some reason I cannot get any meeting past 8/19/13. This is more than a month ago.
I know that alot of money was spent with Connecting Point to start this program and all of a sudden nothing. WHY?????????????

I have an email dated Sept. 18 and this is a quote from the City Clerks Office.

Regarding the video of the 9-9-13 meeting or even the meeting of 8-26-13; I have issues with both recordings and Connecting Point has assured me they have multiple resources committed to restoring both videos. So far, as reported to me this morning, the video has been recovered and they are still working on the audio. Connecting Point is taking responsibility for this problem and I am personally embarrassed and very frustrated.

Time to disconnect Connecting Point!

I think the solution is simple. Enough is enough. Get our tax money back from Connecting Point and go elsewhere so citizens can actually see the videos they are paying for. Come on city council hop to it.

This issue regarding connecting points lack of paid service is a perfect excuse from the city. The city doesn't want meetings videotaped and available for us to see in the first place. . For instance: if a person hired a company to mow their lawn once a week, every Wednesday, and the company mowed it on a Friday two weeks in a row, wouldn't one fire them because it was suppose to be mowed every Wednesday? Duh! Connecting point should have been fired after strike two. And for anybody to say that they are embarrassed by this is also an excuse and a package of bologna.

I hope they show the video. You will see that there were more residents supporting the renewal of the TEST contract than they had opponents. Also nobody had the motivation to speak publically and be heard about oppositon on hiring a local company that has done positive work for several years.

11:52 , and why could that be? Here's why, family members and close friends attended to support their significant other who vote on it. Many had never attended council meetings! Or very few. Fair bidding process! Which can save $.

11:52 Theres that veiled union thug mentality that is such a proud part of our heritage.

Nobody had the guys to stand up and question a LOCAL company. Yeah, dats right. Who here besides Kristy will mention that going out for bid can be a good thing. Nobody. We will shut you all up, shout you down, stuff the gallery with our relatives and buddies, make sure you all see if you do anything, we will remember and take care of our own.

Anybody see how big our trucks are? We got really really big trucks. And BB guns too.

2:44 or you can hide behind phone calls from another anon. caller. or write a open form with invalid statements. Anything but take the podium and stand behind your "valid" concerns.

The biggest problem with Peru politics is Peru politicians. They are great on running on a sound platform to get elected and than doing the opposite of this platform once elected. Isn't that correct Mayor Harl? Remember the days when you ran on the promise of open competitive bidding if elected? What happened?
TEST and Chamlain Eng. Consultants were in the crosshairs of your scope for years. What in a election has made such a difference?

11:52. How do you know the people at the contract renewal meeting were there in support of TEST? I thought it was a room of people in favor of bidding???

Anonymous said...

9:16 this is easy. How do I know that people were there to support Test? Nobody....took the podium against TEST..Nobody. One spoke in general terms about attorneys, engineers, etc. Nothing to back up the open forms. Nothing. Its called drop and run. Write a article and then run from the distorted viewpoints that your article contains. Or cold call residents with blantant lies and NEVER own up to those calls.

3:27 the cold calls had no lies. Name one single blatant lie.

The article had distorted viewpoints? What was the distorted viewpoints? Name one.

Or are you pulling a drop and run, as you call it.
The City leaders DID hassle and old lady. they DID wrongly prevent a competitor from speaking. They DID refuse to go out for bid.

That is all I recall any open forum article stating. Newsflash. Just because you do not like to be called out does not mean things are being distorted.

Not one person said TEST was not a good company, nor did they say they were not doing a good job. They wanted to know who made up TEST over the years, and wanted this large contract to go out to qualified bidders.

I know that the gallery was full of concerned citizens. It is scary to go up and speak against this super majority that votes as one block and questions people about why they are there and what they are going to say.

The people signed there names to the open forum articles. Thats a little more than you are doing with your blog post.

Excellent post 12:56 a.m.

I usually recognize posts that are coming from elected officials or unnamed people from city hall and they absolutely never sign their name. I have no problem with anon comments coming from sincere people but those who serve need t own up to their votes and to their behavior and their total lack of integrity.
For many years the city contractors have gone out with the aldermen (not all) and enjoyed some after hours relaxation and we wonder why so much doesn't go out for bid. Just like the IML. Is that called pay to play???
