I have heard that a certain ambitious newly elected official is going to lead an effort to start construction of a Splash Pad in Peru. It will be interesting to see if his efforts are welcome or if he will be shut down by the clique because he is not an insider.

And who might that be 2:13. I'll believe that one when I hear or see something with regards to it myself.

Let's not forgot that the mayor's big golf outing is tomorrow. Too bad the mayor does have a golf outing for a fundraiser for the swimming pool or a splash pad. $300,000 for a splash pad is a long way from the $100,000 that the pool fundraising committee has. It goes to show that Harl is only concerned with himself. Also remember to see who attends this golf outing what business favors they need from Harl.

Anon 12:31 I don't understand your comment about the $100,000 that the pool committee has and that being a long ways from the $300,000for a splash pad.
Tomorrow instead of having business owners who make their living off of the city kneel down to kiss his ring he should be collecting donations from them for Perus children to have water outdoor recreation.

This is 12:31. It should read "too bad the mayor DOESN'T have a golf outing for the pool". My thought was since fundraising is going so slowly, the pool committee should look into using their $100,000 towards the cost of a splash pad, because without backing from the mayor and council, Peru will NEVER have a swimming pool again. And the mayor and council do not want a pool because it makes the bottom line look bad.

The Mayor and council do not want a pool or a splash pad because it is not for them. Why doesn't someone inform the Mayor that he would get his title and name on a plaque by the splash pad and/or pool.
Puff the magic dragon, now you get both.

Latest rumor is that Snoppy the Blimp landed at the Peru airport because he heard there was going to be a hangar party.

As one who has made contributions already to the pool fund, just want to make clear that I/we were donating with the understanding money would go for a pool not a splash pad so for me using the pool money would be problematic unless it was part of a bigger approved plan where the splash pad could be built first but pool was designed and approved as well and land saved for building pool down the line.

I would think that the pool committee is controller of the money they have raised as they should be.

@12:31. OR TO KEEP THEIR JOB OR GET A JOB OR GET A CONTRACT OR GET A BID! MAKES ME WANT TO GO VOMIT! When will those who donated to Harls golf outing/war chest be posted on government website?

I think Harl has enough money in his war chest. I think he should donate all money made tomorrow to the pool fund!!

Anon 8:23 Why do you and other supporters of the pool fund think that everyone should be donating to the pool fund? If a person wishes to donate it should be their option to what fund they wish to donate to? By producing a hand out program you have created a overkill which is having a negative effect. Your initial 3-4 years of fund raising has only produced $100,000, and isn't the number this high because of one or two big donors?
What is the total cost of a new pool that has been agreed upon and who is going to pay for the maintenance and upkeep plus manpower? In the grand scheme of things there are alot more costs than saying we have reached our goal now lets build a pool.
Personally I would like to know how many children do not have access to a pool that are from Peru. A few suggestions of pools available in the area are LaSalle, Oglesby, Spring Valley, Mendota and Perus YMCA.
