Woman IDs officials who 'bullied' her

Woman IDs officials who 'bullied' her

City officials and local resident in conflict. Maybe there needs to be special classes for people who are elected to city offices in how to communicate effectively with the residents of the city.

Actually I would be willing to bet that for every incident of a elected official "bullying" a citizen, there are 100 cases in which the exact opposite takes place. You couldn't pay me enough to be a a council member, county board member, member of congress or school board member. It has become popular to just trash these people, most of whom are good people trying to do what is best for their communities. I'm not saying this to defend anyone, I'm just making a point. Also sometimes stories of "bullying" have a much greater context than just the one side you read.

Why not go to the city web site and watch a few videos of the council meetings. I think you could watch for the last 6 months and not find one incident where a resident bullied an alderman but you might find a council member telling one of them what he thinks of them in not so kind terms. I was told to check out one of the April meetings, will do that. Something to do with building a splashpad.

I agree with you to some extent 1:16. I too think being a council member, county board member, etc. is a thankless job however, some member's heads become too big when they take their seat. I have encountered and witnessed rude behavior and am embarrassed to think that these people represent me and my town.

2:39 you are making my point. There is no context there. I do not see any bullying. Some things are ridiculous and sometimes I like it when public officials tell it like it is. I see the nasty comments made about public officials and they hold town meetings and people are sick. It's ridiculous. elected office holders are human. If you don't like them, you get a chance to vote them out. The whining gets so old.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Here! Here! How many city meetings have you attended? I venture to say most of you could count the number attended on one hand. Attendance and interest in Peru city politics are both ignored by the citizenship, unless it becomes a direct attack upon them.

I have witnessed members of the populace treated rudely, insulted rather than answered with respect and made fun of by both elected and non elected. Also at times I have personally felt the embarrassment of interested citizens as a result of the treatment offered from elected Peru representation. Those who go to public meetings are not the type to complain behind another's back but are more so in attendance to express their well thought out ideas.

2:39 I understand your comment and would appreciate how you would feel about 2 year terms. Also do you believe term limitations work better than 37 years of Mike M.

There are term limits and they are called elections.

I heard Peru has been served with a lawsuit from it's bullying .

3:00 PM A political election without term limits in which the challenger wins is normally referred to as a upset. Presidential elections, a body much larger than Peru, live within term limits successfully so what would a attempt to do the same hinder? OH! Yes a incumbent could not run for a third term immediately after winning 2 consecutive terms.
