These Neighbors Got Together to Buy Vacant Buildings. Now They’re Renting to Bakers and Brewers

These Neighbors Got Together to Buy Vacant Buildings. Now They’re Renting to Bakers and Brewers

Very interesting idea and by not depending upon the government cities were able to bring in business to their city but it takes people who want to invest in their community. Can't see this for our city but quite a story to read.  BTW very long article and I basically skimmed through.

The city involvement was getting them a loan and the people did the rest.

Notices received by families of residents of La Salle Health Care Nursing Home that all patients will be moved either to Heritage Health in Peru or to a place of their choosing. Does this mean that more people are staying their homes longer with the help of companies providing home health care? Or is their another reason?

This doesn't belong under this heading but I didn't know where else to put it and felt strongly about airing my thoughts on this topic. I'm curious as to why burglaries, such as the one posted yesterday in the Trib, took 5 days to be brought to the attention of neighborhoods and citizens? Wouldn't it be important to warn people to be aware of what is happening in their part of town and to keep their eyes and ears open to strange activities that they may witness? Robberies and burglaries seem to be on an increase in our once quiet and friendly towns and I feel citizens should be made aware of them. My opinion!

because burglaries make the city look bad. The NT is a cheerleading squad for the local government.

1:40 then stop reading it.

The "city is not the government. The NT does no such thing. If it sells newspapers, they like it. It's a business. The sad thing is the stupid crap you dream up is not reality and nor is it interesting news.

Stop with your crybaby conspiracies. It's a very typical local newspaper.

7:27, they don't make money on the news. They make money on the advertising. If the local businesses don't advertise, they don't make money. So - they print what the local businesses like them to print. The local people also don't like to hear bad things. The don't care about local government unless their property tax goes up. I swear that local governments could institute a 100% sales tax. A 100% gasoline tax. A 100% cell phone tax. And nobody in Peru would care as long as they continue to have a "low" city property tax. That is how ill-informed most voters in Peru are.

7:59 you are clearly clueless about business and advertising. Of course newspapers make their money on advertising, but there is no advertising without readers! The advertising rates are directly correlated to the size of the audience, whether that is news print, radio, television or Google. Name your media, no audience = no advertising = no newspaper. Business do not decide what is printed any more than they do in the New York Times. It's all relative.

You make blanket statements like "The local people also don't like to hear bad things." Stop thinking you are somehow intellectually superior to everyone else. I've read your broad brush comments on here so many times, and the only small-minded person we have evidence of is you, painting a stroke here and there about "baby boomers" and "Illinois Valley people." This place is far more diverse than you realize, something you would never understand.

Thankfully most people are not as small-minded as you. As a business partner who has clients in many communities, I know for a fact that our local governments are actually very well ran for the most part. The township is silly to me but the city and local school district are excellent and their performance and has helped grow my business. And no I don't get a single dollar from any local government. They just do a very solid job and they understand business. If your view is "all taxes are bad" then you are so far off on the fringe that no one will every listen to you. For the most part, our local governments do a pretty good job keeping taxes low. All taxes. People like common sense and most of our local people are business people with common sense.

Our community it not perfect but people like you really get under my skin. Thankfully your anonymous drivel is meaningless but I had to spout off for once. Unbelievable.

To 5:00 PM, You really ripped that guy a new one didn't you? Nice going. Good to know you are the kind of "business owner" who would blast someone for feeling "intellectually superior" to others while you ramble on in a rather "intellectually superior" sounding tone yourself. Is that "glass house" you live in located in the swanky North of Peru by chance? Me thinks it may be!

So now if a person owns a business and lives on the north end of Peru something is wrong with them 11:54? The north end is swanky? wow. It sounded like a pretty good statement to me. I didnt see any "intellectual superior" attitude from 5:00 and all you can come back with is an accusation that they might be financially successful?

The blog is off hte deep end.
