Closing of Kirlin's Hallmark store deals another blow to Northwoods Mall

Closing of Kirlin's Hallmark store deals another blow to Northwoods Mall  this is relative to the Peoria Northwoods Mall Kirlin's store.  I have also heard rumors that our local Kirlin's store will be closing. Beside the Peoria store closing, the web lists others within the state as closing. What does this say about the future of retail businesses?

On-line shopping is gaining and will continue to gain on retail stores. Just as alarming is the decision by Walmart to close a entire division of retail stores. Walmart's management and ownership have no conscience and are a true role model of do anything to turn a profit and they are the best in the country at it. They plan to build a store every 20 miles rape all city businesses and than close a store every other 20 miles leaving us with a 40 mile drive to obtain product. Their recent closings are proof of their intentions. Remember that Walmart paid their employees so little that they secret;y schooled them to obtain all the benefits the government would give them. We the taxpayer paid for their benefits. I would be thankful to hear what some of the present and past employees of Walmart have to say about the retail division of this company.

If we want to keep jobs here in this area, we need to do a better job supporting our local businesses. How much of your expenses are paid to entities that our outside our area. Do you buy your insurance from a local agent? or Do you buy it online from no agent? Do you make purchases online, and how often? Did you buy a cell phone from a local business?
Also, people are shopping at malls away from the Illinois Valley area. We need to encourage out of towners to spend money here in our downtowns. Our locally owned businesses need to be open on the weekends for shoppers. When we spend more of our hard earned dollars in places away from the IL Valley area and out of towners are not spending money here, we are losing financial ability to create and retain jobs. As we prepare for tax season, look at your expenses, where is my money going?
