Changing Demographics and Population in Illinois

FROM THE LIST OF COUNTIES, FIND LASALLE AND CHECK TO SEE HOW WE HAVE LOST POPULATION SINCE 1990.

I think that 1990 population is a mistake. LaSalle County has never had that large of a population. Other sources list is pretty steady at around 110K going back to 1970.

Is it possible that the numbers for Lasalle Co. and Lake Co. were transposed?

I went to the chart that you posted and the 1990 La Salle county census was listed as 516,000 people. This seemed quite high so I checked the census bureau info and it shows the 1990 La Salle county census was 107,126 and the estimated 2014 census is 111,241 people. That would be an increase of 4,115 people! Thus we are not losing population but actually holding our owned compared to many other Illinois counties.

I wondered also as I never remember the county losing so many people. Early on the post, they said mistakes were corrected regarding some southern Il counties. I think they need to make the LaSalle county correction too.
The demographic info is pretty much what we see locally. and up to date but the city maybe needs someone on staff to cross the language barrier. What do you think?

From the Illinois News Network:

Over the recession era, Indiana’s workforce grew by 53,000 people while Illinois’ workforce shrank by 200,000 people.

If Illinois’ workforce size were benchmarked to Indiana’s over the recession era, Illinois’ unemployment rate would be 10.3% today

Data I see shows that Peru has had a decline in population since 2010.

Everyone knows the answer to increasing population in a area - jobs.
Every time that Peru has a opportunity to attract good jobs a group finds a reason to oppose them.
This group is composed of active employees or retired individuals who don't need a job but for some reason are not letting those that do not have their opportunities to get one.

We will not get significant economic development that provides real jobs - jobs that build the middle class - unless the connected cronies will gain something from it. Everything that happens in Peru needs to benefit them or it won't get done.

I know - lets give a million dollars to somebody to build a movie theater. That will provide jobs. I'd love to be the guy that butters the popcorn. Wow! My dream come true.

The movie theater is in the past. The present is that for every positive that reaches the blog 5 or 6 negatives answer it. Why?
The general thought in Peru for a few is very negative and this thought is a path to failure which questions the need of this particular blog and what direction should it be directed for survival?
