This is a must read article if you want to know how our city officials treat citizens and avoid answering legitimate questions.

I hope the council sticks to their guns and does what they think is best for the city. I agree TEST does great work for the city and it would be bad to shop for a better price and lose the great hometown service. The same applies to Chuck at the airport. They did not bid that and I agree he provides a great service as well. You get what you pay for. Keep TEST and keep Chuck. They provide great service, they provide a specialty service and they are from Peru.

There is no harm in bidding there is savings in test bid for sure

Response to comment made by 7:55 PM
I do not know if you are a council member running for reelection or a employee or owner of TEST, but I do know that you do not know the importance of pricing and how to obtain the lowest price but maintaining the best of quality and delivery.
I have never heard of a professional businessman not considering price in a 30 year contractual history, and making his decision in a multimillion dollar contract on great service, the providing of a specialty service ( how it is a specialty service no one will ever know since there are a unlimited number of corporations doing the same thing) and they are from the Peru. If it is the Public Services Committee led by Alderman Dave Waldorf making these decisions on their own this proves that they do not know what they are doing either.

If there is no harm in bidding for the TEST contract why are so many alderman not willing to release the contract for bid?
Could there be harm by way of loss of personal gain?

And the crack news tribune reporting staff is busy asking those hard questions and getting those answers because that's what the press does....bawhahahahah.

Anonymous said...

What does it matter now anyway?!

To 7:55 pm, Thank you Mr./Ms. Status Quo Civic Cheerleader.
The Peru establishment mentality you spew ensures Peru taxpayers will always pay more for all services and products.
By the way, it was pointed out in great detail the "great work" TEST did screwing the citizen taxpayers out of hundreds of thousands of dollars over 15 years of a sweethesart deal fro landfill monitoring. Great service? You mean great profits at our expense.
Not the way we want to be screwed.

@7:55 PM "You get what you pay for."

Yes you get what you pay for, but how do you know what you are getting and if you are paying 2015 prices when you never explore and research competitors for over 30 years?

They explained it last night and it makes perfect sense. It usually does. Once you get past the crazy talk and get down to it, there are actually sensible reasons why things are done the way they are done.

Another must read is a response to this article by the mayor and alderman Lukosis in last night's paper. I have trouble following their reasoning and I do not see anywhere at that meeting where the mayor invites Weberski to the Public Services Monday meeting to get his answer.

4:39 A.M.

sounds like you took a line out of Hillary clinton's playbook.

Anonymous said...

8:51. If you watched the video of the exchange you would hear Lukosus invite Weberski to the meeting for answers.

Anonymous said...

To 8:51 AM, What must read response by Harl and Lukosus are you referring to in last nights paper? I saw no response in the paper. ?????????

Anonymous said...

It is online and will be in today's paper.

Anonymous said...

Listen carefully 8:51. Lukosis states that Weberski had been invited to previous meetings (which are held at 10 a.m. and Weberski is at work), not last Monday's meeting. And, if you listen carefully you will hear someone repeat what alderman Waldorf has said in the past "no questions allowed in public services meetings".

how do you know if anyone can do a better job at the airport - everything is secretive as kristy found out

Government is about pleasing your constituents. The only constituents that count in the "Boss Harl Administration" are the crony businesses.
According to the way Peru does things, they pay more so the crony can pay more and on down the food chain. It is really sad that the taxpayers fund a large portion of the Illinois Valley economy.

Anonymous said...

I know Weberski could make the meeting if he wanted to, I see him in town at all hours of day.

Anonymous said...

If you believe the bunch of baloney HARL AND LUKOSUS IS SPEWING, WHY COULDN'T THEY JUST TOLD HIM AT THE MEETING MON. NIGHT.bUT THEY HAD TO MEET SOMEONE WHO KNEW A LITTLE MORE ABOUT IT, TO TELL THEM WHAT TO SAY.
STEVE WEBERSKI IS SO MUCH SMARTER THAN BOTH OF THEM. HARL WOULD NOT BE MAYOR IF NOT FOR WEBERSKIS BRAINS AND WORK. THEN HARL S T ALL OVER HIS BEST FRIEND. GOOD LUCK CITY OF PERU WITH HIM AS LEADER.

This government has got to go!

OK, thanks 8:26 PM. I'm sure Steve is glad to know you are observing his movements throughout Peru and you would be capable of balancing his work schedule. Are you in the habit of stlalking Peru citizens regularly? So your point is that it's ok that information will only be released and questions will only be answered at the convenience of the elected officials so these elected officials can pick and choose what they will answer only after they have an opportunity to devise a canned and sterilized response to any unscripted questions. No answers when the camera is rolling at council meetings documenting the exchange of questions and answers. Transparency? Really?

Anonymous said...

9:35 I had the same thought! They had to ask someone(attorney) what to say. Otherwise if they owned the transformer, why not just say that at the meeting. Didn't they know they owned the darned thing Monday night? And for the mayor to call his long time friend Mr. Weberski!! Wow, is all I can say.

Anonymous said...

Bureaucrats are incapable of making a decision let alone having an independent thought. Peru is run by such people.

Anonymous said...

To 9:35 PM, Please be advised that while I agree with your assessment that Mr. Weberski is a formidable foe to the flunkey Peru establishment types like Harl, Lukosus, and Waldork. I am pretty sure Steve would take issue with your comment that he and Harl were ever "best friends". Steve told me Harl was a "white bread" candidate blessed with a "Gold Medal" campaign. Steve says "the old man needed to go and now Harl needs to go". After Harl is defeated in 2017if his replacement can't do the job we'll fire him too.

To: Steve Weberski

I think the answer is in the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement). That contract would explain the responsibilities of both parties. I'm curious to know what the delivery point is - is it a bus bar sale delivered at the high side of the transformer feeding the plant? In an agreement like that, the buyer is usually responsible for the transmission. In any case, the PPA should contain all the information necessary figure out what is going on.

On the other hand, if there is no PPA in place, that would be more evidence that the Peru Electric is not being managed competently.

Anonymous said...

3:12 PM I would be surprised if there is anything in writing other than an open blanket for the buyer, written and approved by the buyer, therefore totally one sided. Peru's management is incompetent.

Anonymous said...

Can and would anyone who has enough knowledge of the Illinois Municipal Electrical Association (IMEA) explain what guidelines they offer in these agreements and who are the other towns which offer endless care of a corporations electrical mistakes

Anonymous said...

To 9:59 PM,
The answers to your question are,
* Nobody currently on the city payroll or holding elcted office has the knowledge you describe.

* No other IMEA would offer perpetual care of electric equipment even when the customer was negligent. Only Peru's elected officials would be so incompetent in protecting the interests of its citizens.

Anonymous said...

10:13, uhh, I don't think you have a clue of what your talking about. How much time have you spent in Springfield with the IMEA to come up with your conclusions. Not just this admininistration , but the previous one has spent countless hrs. with the agency to have a pretty good idea what the conclusions they come to as far as the Hardie problem.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't Joe Prazen, Jim Potthoff and now Harl on the IMEA board, think they some policy knowledge.

Anonymous said...

10:13, Uhh... I don't think you have a clue.
So you are saying the only way to gain knowledge on a subject is to "spend time in Springfield?" Well friend, I've been to Springfield many times. It usually takes me a few days to get my IQ back up to "normal" levels after talking with anyone involved in government.

Anonymous said...

I just remembered something. If you dig through Boss Harl's campaign funding reports you will see a SUBSTANTIAL donation from a company that sold transformers to the City of Peru Electric Department. Things that say hmmmmmm....

Anonymous said...

The citizens of Peru should want to know why the mayor would not answer Mr. Weberski's questions at the council meeting but did not have any problem informing the newsmedia with what appeared to be a prepared statement one week later. During the council meeting did he and the entire Public Services committee forget they owned the transformer and were responsible for it's repair? When was the electricity supplied to the light bulb in their brains?

Anonymous said...

8:42, hey clueless, I bet you have never been to Springfield outside of maybe the State Fair.

Anonymous said...

12:33, 8:42 here, I go to Springfield twice a year to lobby law makers and watch committee hearings. I've never been to the State Fair, I don't believe in such a frivolous waste of taxpayer's money.
Despite the fact that most of our state is run by the "clueless" and the corrupt Chicago crowd, the only way this will change is if we constantly remind them that they are being watched.

3:48, who are you kidding, so now your a lobbyist, so your on the payroll for a political entity, you are full of it. If so who do yo represent as a lobbyist and are you making a buck off of certain group to be a lobbyist. Lets put it out there.
