Rahm's War Chest: Which Aldermen Got the Most Money from Mayor's Super PAC? - Downtown - DNAinfo.com Chicago

We don't need to worry about Rahm and just maybe he will be defeated. But we all know that this is going on in Peru big time.  Past experience tells us that and our mayor also has a war chest. Peru imitating Chi Town.

For the advanced politician the norm has become to create his/her self a war chest. This includes national, state, county and city governments.

Of more concern than a war chest in the upcoming elections is how the city could lower the budget by each department. Some departments are almost impossible to be lowered but others i.e. police and water departments should be scrutinized. The PPD accounts for approximately 1/4 of the entire budget. There are several reasons that this one department has a stranglehold upon the Peru Budget but one easy reduction would be to numerically analyze the cost of a individual fully equipped police car or SUV which is a mobile office including computers with all programs, sirens, lights, safety equipment, and communication devises etc. Now take the number of cars needed per shift in comparison to the number of police vehicles actually owned by the PPD because in town officers are allowed to take them home to be allowed to be parked on the street in wait of the officer to return to work rather than be used around the clock 24-7. Each car is supplied with additional insurance, maintenance and general upkeep. How many vehicles are in the PPD? How many squad cars are on patrol per shift? How many officers live in town and how many officers live out of town?
The amount upon which the water department budget could be lowered is a unknown because of prior poor business practices. I am speaking of the lack of open bidding, competitive contracts for over 25 years. The TEST contract is on its 5th rider in which no comparisons of anyone besides TEST's contractual cost has been established. Recently the C, Public Services Alderman Waldorf can be credited with enforcing this practice. If you find his business practices inferior he is up for election and challenged by Candidate Travis Nelson. Mr. Nelson understands business and would make a strong alderman in the 3rd.

The most essential policy facing the City of Peru politically is the at large candidacy of our representation. Every election recently there is a ward or two which have more than one qualified candidate in the race and there is a ward or two that has only one candidate running. The at large referendum should be on the ballot 2 years from now as the number of representatives to govern Peru should be. Whether 4,6 or 8 all positions should be at large.
Also if more than 2 candidates are running for Mayor the first election should be a primary to reduce the number of candidates down to 2 and than a run off should take place. If the number of candidates is more than 2 if one candidate receives more than 51% of the vote they could be declared the winner.

I agree 4:51. The games that people play.

If I knew that Mr. Nelson did, indeed, have business background experience, I would be inclined to consider him as an alderman. Please provide us with his experience.

Please provide qualifications, certifications, education for persons who Harl has appointed for positions he has appointed them to. Talk the talk, but walk the walk.

How does the city keep track of mileage for vehicles? Aaron Shock had over 70,000 miles unaccounted for that he claimed as expenses. Does that happen in Peru? With some of our city vehicles? Aaron, another one of illinois finest.

5:16, they don't keep mileage on city vehicles unless your the mechanic so he knows when to change oil. You only keep mileage on personal vehicles that are used to do city business out of town, that can be seen on disbursement s

but you might want to check on the economic directors mileage

11:48 I agree with you on your comment, he uses his personal car and it should be verified, I made the point with city vehicles .

We should buy the Economic Director a car with a big City of Peru logo on the door.

How about we buy Mayor Harl a limousine with city logo and another logo, "master of wedding ceremonies."

4:29. The Mayor does need a car. He should be authorized a black SUV with a driver. After all, he is MAYOR! He makes decisions about how to TAKE CARE OF US. Peru has the money - he should get an SUV and Driver. I mean jeeze - we aren't some backwater like Utica - we are PERU!
