Harl is so rude and will never learn to just answer Perez without the chip on his shoulder.

Watching Alderman Perez through the years brings to mind the campaign slogan: In your heart, you know he's right.

I've had two people say to me this week: Alderman Potthoff was what Alderman Perez is. It's too bad Potthoff lost his fire and now sits back and has become one of the boys. Where was his criticism of Harl that the mayor can't just go out and make bids on property. Where was Potthoff on the TEST vote. No backbone anymore, he has become soft. Maybe this election will be his last. We need somebody with a voice who will stand up for what is right. Potthoff didn't even pursue the payroll investigation like it should have been. Big disappointment!

11:22 AM, You are so right about Dave Potthoff. He has conformed to the "Good ol' Boy" attitude and is quickly on his way to becoming just as worthless and ineffective as Jack O'Beirne was before he decided to finally do something positive for Peru by getting out and fading into obscurity. In my opinion, Potthoff has made a "deal with the devil" by forming a disgusting "alliance" with Harl for future support from big union against any future challengers to his 4th ward alderman seat. Potthoff, like most of the other aldermen, will do anything to maintain their phony-baloney positions. Potthoff agreed to fall in line with the other "Lemmings" in return for union money and support against anybody from the
4th ward with the balls to challenge him in April 2015. The Good ol' Boys and the "Peru Establishment" are all scared to death that they might lose that
4th ward seat to the man they love to hate. They have good reason to be afraid and they will stop at nothing to keep him from breaking through.

12:41 I have viewed the tape a number of times, where is Harl rude? He never made a bid on a property and most of the council was aware of it. No purchase no foul.

11:22 I've known Potthoff for some time. I doubt that anybody will be able to manipulate him into making a mockery of Peru.

12:31 your right Potthoff tlaks about issues that are boring to most of the residents. One meeting he talked about sales tax predictions, bonds, balance budget, retirement funds, surplus needs. He has been a pain in the ass with the employee union negotiations. He may be boring, but I would doubt that anybody would believe he has a alliance with Harl or supported by the union label. The good ole boys and the establishment? Who? If your talking about the CSO, they let anybody join up. See you soon.

anon 12:31 Potthoff may look like Russian President Putin but he is more like a conservative republican Scott Walker. Next week your be blogging that Alderman Perez and Harl are vacationing together.
Hopefully unions will support Potthoff, he has been positive on growth and jobs in the area.

Unions cannot be the reason business will come into the area. It is just opposite, they ran business OUT! Think again 3:47PM.

Right on!!! Unions only ruin reality Check the rat establishment that hung out on chartes this week. What took hard working Illinoisian 2 days would have easily been 7 days with Harls 150 operators. U all just dont get it do u? But you are home grown so don't suspect u would!!!! How many times do u need to read what unions have done to this union n this city? Wake up locals and get a CLUE. Signed = Professor anti chumps (union people)

It is time to take our state back from the socialists! Right-to-Work in Illinois in 2015! Pass it on!

9:05 how do we go about making Illinois a right to work state?

Anonymous said...

9:30 Vote Republican and Libertarian!

Harl is rude he is afraid of Perez so he over does if with him such a shame perhaps harl needs to quit doing things under the table so to speak an d involve all the council not just his wanna be's

Anonymous said...

5:50 - this is Peru, nobody can do anything above the table. That is why we need to concentrate on fundamentally changing the government structure of Peru if not all of the Illinois Valley. We can't afford any more Bosses like Boss Harl.

Dave "Putin" Potthoff is more concerned about maintaining that
4th ward alderman seat as the rest of them and if you think he would not welcome a "Deal with the Devil", aka Harl and the local building trades you have no understanding of Peru politics and the "Strange Bedfellows" that scratch each other's backs. An unholy deal has been struck. Just watch it play out next April if Potthoff has a challenger in the
4th ward. Not only that, I'm convinced that Potthoff has traded his soul to Harl for union support after Harl is done screwing things up in Peru and he tries to move on (LOL) and Potthoff will run for mayor again. Mayor is all Potthoff wants. His motivation is all personal gratification, the same as Harl.

It's pretty sad Lois that you allow bloggers to call certain elected officials names, because of the way they look, or act, or just their position, but if something was said about your favorite elected official, that will never be posted. You are as bad as the people who post this stuff such as anon10:21 and many others including the swearing from some bloggers. Lois you said you try to have good conversations between your bloggers, what's up with the blogs that are just unintelligent ranting.

Anonymous said...

We can hope that Potthoff will run for Mayor. I don't think Potthoff needs the support of Harl to run for office. 10:21 Potthoff is the least of your worries.

Well 1:24 pm - I suppose next you will expect us not to point out the striking similarity in appearance and character between disgraced Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and our very own version, albeit a less colorful "cheap imitation" in Mayor Scott Harl. It's uncanny and very funny to see how much they really look and act alike.

Anon 2:39, your way of thinking is very immature and is actually pretty sad. Again some intelligent thinking would make this blog very useful.

Maybe he has encountered the same people I have at city hall. While walking in this morning, one of our aldermen, walked right in front of us and looked at us and never even greeted us. Public servant?

Anonymous said...

No Lois, most of them can only be described as, "Self-Servant".

1:24 You are entitled to your opinion and I do agree that it is childish for adults to call each other names. However, I also feel it is not only childish but disrespectful the way some aldermen (who were elected to represent the citizens of Peru) treat those who attend their meetings and dare to question them. Aren't they supposed to be there to answer questions, listen to suggestions, and respond in a civilized manner even if they disagree? We all need to work "together" not against one another.

Anonymous said...

Who? 9:45....

Most of the officials I have encountered have been personable and helpful. I give them credit after reading many of the blogs over the last few years.

Anonymous said...

To 9:20 am, I suspect you have not had a disagreement with any of them.

Anonymous said...

9:20 or offered suggestions, they don't like suggestions either

Anonymous said...

I've had heated arguments with our elected officials, but they still treat me with respect as I treat them the same way, no matter what our differences are, that's the key, I don't take it out on them on the blog.

9:17 pm, Heated arguments?
Yea right!
