I used to think this was a family friendly city.

I had no idea. I will verify this is the case before i either sell my 15 year old sons ticket or demand a refund. I'm embarrassed for not following up to see what sort of entertainment were coming to Peru before we purchased a ticket. This named group Suicide Girls were not mentioned. I'm no prude by any means but this is not suitable for our youth. Is this town smoking dope or what? City hall needs to be drug tested. Lead by example Peru. If city officials read this you should all be ashamed. This is pure trash! I sure hope they plan to card these kids. Regardless with an adult or not. I'm curious if the people of this town are aware of this??

3:56- I feel very sorry for you old guy in the valley. Let me tell you that there are strip clubs you should go to mr. old guy. Before you go get your eye exam, take your Viagra, shower, put your false teeth in, wear your diaper, and take all your cash, because, they don't care about you, they just want your stupidity in giving them your money. And just maybe if you snag a private room with your old money, you will get a STD. Good Luck. l thought your comment 3:56 was a disgrace to the older generation of men. Do you have teenage grandchildren? I feel sorry for them to have a grandfather such as yourself. This type of concert should be 18 years+ only, and definitely not in Peru. Harl needs to go ASAP! Letter to the editor in ottawa paper and othe towns within proximity.

Not all of the bads are bad, not my kind of music but that does not matter. What matters is that they would include this act and the only way I would have known about it is to see the advertisement. It bothers me that the mayor first of all did not investigate all the acts that are coming as I believe they are all on you tube, if he knows what that is. Easily accessible for the viewing of the aldermen and the mayor. When the city responds appropriately and assures us that his group of women will not be on the program, I will remove this video as it is insulting to most people.

Anonymous said...

What else can we expect? What an embarrassment to the city

Anonymous said...

This is porn. This is wrong! This is so very wrong!

Anonymous said...

Don't remove video, people on this forum should be made aware of what's happening. Kids and teenagers aren't participating on this forum.

Anonymous said...

4:49 please check youtube for additional videos. Some make you sign in before you can view them because they are so bad. One refers to it as "soft" porn. It is women dancing seductively taking off their tops. Sell your ticket fast and let other parents know too.

This takes first prize Mayor Harl and Alderman. Where are your family values, integrity, leadership, morals? Not a one of you stepped up to the plate. Were you duped by the concert promotor?

Anonymous said...

Lois, I would also list the lyrics from the songs popular with the groups performing. I know it is FREE speech but it is also CITY SPONSORED and grant assurance fund raising, so let the administration stand loud and proud behind it.

For the kids, right? For the benjamins is more like it.

Call the radio station and had Rod Thorson have this as a topic. A lot of elderly do listen to the radio, who possibly voted for Harl.

Anonymous said...

Talk about Cow Bell!

Anonymous said...

The radio station and newspaper make a lot of money from advertising for these concerts. No way will Rod Thorson say anything bad about them.

Anonymous said...

Thorson will not say anything unless it is cleared and approved by the Miller Media Group. He owes them way to much to go against the fold. If he talks about it, it is because the said he could and - pro or con - it will be their point of view.

Anonymous said...

The News Media are sponsors for these concerts. They are in the promoters hip pocket.

Anonymous said...

How much does a front row ticket cost?

Anonymous said...

Thorson is a puppet that only spouts what MMG tells him to.

Let's see. First we had the Taste of the Valley. Turned into a beer gardens and brought trouble to a nice family event. That was cancelled. Next we have the Waterstreet fiasco that is based on the beer gardens. That event has become disgusting as well and people are going to other family friendly towns to see the fireworks. Now we have porno night at the airport sponsored by the City of Peru. I can't believe Miller Media would have any part of this garbage. Seems rather odd that we can't have an adult store in town, behind closed doors, but we can have live porn for all of our youth to see. Sanctioned by the City! By all means, please give our alderman and their young children/grandchildren free tickets so they can truly enjoy this charitable, wholesome, family event. Wow. Money does buy votes. I hope that the powers that be understand the risk they are putting on our police departments for the kind of garbage clientele this event will bring to town. Shame on Peru! Does Ottawa have these events? Spring Valley? Mendota? Oglesby? And we call ourselves the leader of the Valley? Leader of what? The boom boom room?

Anonymous said...

I guess if you dig down deep and look at the political party that our Mayor supports, you will see that this is the type of stuff that a large portion of that party likes.

Anonymous said...

Are we still living in the 1950's? We have a happy endings massage parlor at the north end of town, and you get your feathers ruffled over this? Apparently all of you that are speaking of how disgusting this is,do not watch any television anymore. I like the music, and that will actually have me going to my First Lou's concert. Thanks for something other then country.

Anonymous said...

There is a council meeting next Monday, July 28. Everybody that opposes having porn at the airport needs to show up at that meeting and voice their opinion. Anon blogging needs to be backed up with real people with real concerns.

Anonymous said...

9:10 according to the 1st amendment this is free speech, and not porn. Don't blame your local pizza shop or the Mayor, blame the Supreme Court. Our Puritan viewpoints are much different than that of the laws of the land. This is public property that has a concert, don't believe for one minute that your local jokers from the city can determine what lyrics, bands, or entertainment is on stage. And is your choice of entertainment more important that of others? Look at cable TV and ask yourself if your city can limit the TV choices? Not a chance. And if they do, look for a legal bill that will choke the taxpayer.

9:10 - I would agree with you except for one thing. The government is paying for this (at least partially) and lending their approval. What would happen if somebody wanted to erect a large cross on top of the municipal building or one of our water towers? Should be paint an erotic portrait and hang it in city hall? How about putting pin up girls in the annual city calendar.
It is time to get these events out of the airport and disconnect any association with the government. Let the Pizza Lady rent a field somewhere if she really wants to do this.

Anonymous said...

Sign me up for a "Lap Dance" and there will be a little extra in it for one of the Suicide Girls if it results in shall we say, a "Happy Ending".
You gotta admit it. You couldn't make this stuff up. Peru's elected officials are so clueless it makes you wonder who elects people like that? Does the Peru electorate take a minute to think before they vote for these nitwits?

It's a lifestyle that people choose to have. Rewind to many years back we didn't have the sex on daytime tv, sexual lyrics of songs and on and on, free porno sites on the computer. How we raise our children now, will reflect as to what kind of a person will be in the future. Cheating spouses is something I can't come to terms with, people don't have a clue to what family values are. I have a granddaughter who is in her 20's and does go out to our local taverns, she calls them bars. I'm amazed at who she has told me has been unfaithful to their spouse and or girlfriend. Names that we all would know. She's even laughs because people forget about cell phones where you can take a picture without a flash. . I do judge people by their character and how they conduct themselves. My advise to my grandchildren is be the best you can be, treat people with love and respect. If I were a person who had voting power for these concerts, especially at my age and with the knowledge that I've know and have been taught by my grandchildren , I sure would have done some research as to this venue. I will continue to vote at the polls, but sure as heck my vote will not be for the incompetent people that have voting power now. We desperately need change. From: a shocked and disgusted Baby Boomer-Grandparent.

Yes, I'm an adult, I've been to strip clubs, adult book stores, you name it I have lived it. However, I was over 21 when I did the things I did. I'm of the same age bracket today as our city council/mayor. Under no circumstances I would have voted for this type of venue, nor should our city be involved with promoting concerts. I wonder what the Ambassador of Deer Spotting view is?

Anonymous said...

The headline is

"Is this coming to an airport near you?"

Are we for sure this is the show that is coming? It seems like people have no problems yelling judegement from the comments. Take a deep breath everyone and wait for all facts before sreaming your outrage.

Anonymous said...

12:31 Was there a vote on this issue? I called my city rep. and he said he didn't vote on who was playing at the concert.

Peru Town Forum said...

1:43 PM
They did vote to approve a concert that they had no idea what would be coming in that concert. That's the problem, why do you approve something when you don't know what it is. It is their responsibility to check it out, not yours or mine but when they fail to do their, it falls onto the citizens to do it for them.

Anonymous said...

I want the government out of my entertainment. This is just plain wrong.

Anonymous said...

Typical Illinois Democrats.

Anonymous said...

Let's say I'd like to promote a free spirited festival with music entertainment, food vendors. Needless to say the city votes and it's a go ahead. O.K., I get my tickets printed up then in fine print, it states "must be 21 years old to attend" also in fine print, it states, "nudist only may enter." bingo, bongo, venue of festival was approved. Would this be o.k.? Sounds a little far fetched, but it's the principle, and the city shouldn't look at this differently.

Anonymous said...

On a different subject, but the rat was at the old K-Mart parking lot today.

Anonymous said...

... and all the Aldermen get up in arms over a Pawn Shop, Second Hand Store, and a Gold and Silver buyer. At least they bring something to the community other than a momentary cheap thrill at tax payers expense.

Anonymous said...

@1:43PM I doubt if any city reps have ever questioned who the entertainers would be for a concert.
The concerts, similar to the fireworks and other city sponsored events have lived with little discipline.

Anonymous said...

1:31 yes we're sure. Check out Uproar 2014 on the internet to see the line up of bands and the Suicide Girls.

Anonymous said...

Anon 2:30 PM I want the government out of my everything. The government is no longer a representative of the people.

Peru Town Forum said...

Information gleaned from the Finance meeting this afternoon suggests that they are expecting 10,000 people at the Uproar Concert, August 16. This will not be for teens or anyone younger than 18 and although it is supposedly to be an adults only affair, it does not appear on the tickets sold or has it been advertised in that manner. So it would appear that it is an after thought which will not be enforced at the gate. As information has made its way around the community and videos of the acts coming to perform including the one I put on, it is apparent this is and should be only for adults. So please pass this information along to your friends and family.

Why doesn't our fire department have an open house anymore? Wasn't this a yearly family friendly event?

Anonymous said...

9:25 - Peru is not a family friendly community. The average age of a Peru resident is approaching 50. Unless it involves a beer garden, 50-50 pool and other forms of gambling, an now apparently strippers, it will not happen in Peru.
I wonder what they are going to do to "spice up" the little league tournaments this year. :0

Anonymous said...

Word about the strippers at the airport concert is getting out and I am hearing some comments from some very unhappy people. They can't believe our city is support such an event.

Does everybody realize the "cause" receiving money from this concert is an elementary school in Streator? Do you think the school employees and parents who will be asked to volunteer to work this concert are aware they will be watching strippers?

Anonymous said...

5:35 then dont go to the concert. Problem solved

Anonymous said...

10:51 Money is ALL that matters to schools. The catholic Bishop was notified of Trinity taking money from KR, who has travelled with Strippers/ Stripper Poles and made lyrics about women that might give these new bands a run for their money lol.

He was totally cool with it. All the local priests were too. You people have to give up. Money and Noonan run this town, not aldermen or you guys. They do whatever the hell they want and dare you to stop it.

Anonymous said...

5:35 - this is not a matter of personal taste. The concern is that our government is paying for it. Government should not be involved in this - it should not be held on public property - public employees should not be involved other than what they would normally provide to any citizen or business.

4:24 PM

This all started when Mayor Harl was leading the pack to get these concerts approved. I believe it was 2012 and then in 2013, the city donated over 20,000 at his suggestion. That was also when more farmland was removed from production for concert parking. It felt like the more the residents complained about the waste of money the more he wanted these concerts. This year I understand they have an agreement with Noonan that she pay the first $4100.00 for police and fire protection and after that it is on the taxpayers bill, if it does go over that cost.

Hell prepping the non existent Emergency Preparedness Plan would cost over 4 grand alone.
I read Kristys blog that her FOIA to see the plan was denied? Was that because it didnt exist? Alderman Perez stated right here that he got to see it, and suggested any of us could see it, right here on this blog back during the Kid Rock days.
Somebody is lying.

Anonymous said...

I guess the security and response plans are so top secret ordinary citizens cant review them, unlike at most major venues where local citizens actually attend safety meetings and help prepare the Concert Venues ERP and discuss improving evacuation and controlling disruptions to traffic/emergency services. Neighbors are engaged from the start, unlike Peru where the folks in charge like their folks to sit down, shut up, and trust the experts to "handle" little things like ten thousand visitors in a venue that can only safely handle three thousand max (thats an opinion btw, supported by some independent analysis).

See here in Peru, the promoter is assigned responsibility for safety and insurance, then the Police force does it and claims its all ready and has a plan, but cant "share" the plan with the public.
Most Emergency Response Plans have the police as one component only, and there's no super secret deployment or tactics. There is no reasonable reason to deny the public, many of whom will be attending, the right to see the preparedness, evacuation routes and decision tree, training meetings, notes from pre event meetings. Such plans should have been sent to the FAA for each year, because if you are worried about keeping an airport functioning, tarmac clear, crowds safe from inclement weather, equipment safe in a buffer zone- you need to have a defined ERP. Go ahead, do FOIA , anyone beside Kristy, and see your city deny it under a bogus claim it is super top secret. Then they will dare you to complain to Madigan. And Miller Group will stay quiet, investigate nothing.
Then if and when something really bad happens, then everyone will cry and say what a tragedy. Someone will throw a charity concert for the victims families. This town doesn't need a City Manager. It needs to change that council room into a GD confessional.

Anonymous said...

I hope there are signs at the airport that show the best route out of there if a major storm hits. There would be utter panic and chaos and a very small area in which to leave the area and one road in and out. I can only imagine with horror the scene of 4,000 cars leaving the airport at once to get away from a tornado. A serious disaster waiting to happen if 10,000 people show.

Anonymous said...

Don't forget that 10 bands will have numerous tour buses that will add to the mass exodus if bad weather hits.

Anonymous said...

126 There is a winding road with an above ground gas main right at the bend. It has been there for all the concerts. No body ever hit it at any other concert, and they put protective yellow tape up. So it must be safe. Because they run a tight ship, says so in the council minutes.
Its real easy to see in the dark and driving rain, if you know about it. Its even a short cut out of the grounds past a house.
But nobody ever hit it so the plan must have been safe. Wait, no somebody did, some ladies did one night a few month back, but it didnt blow up and wasnt no concert. Maybe there's a cage round it now. Guess those ladies hadnt had enough booze or pot to know better, and the night was too clear. No rain.
They have always had a real good safety plan, could hopefully handle 15000 people. Chief and Rodney says so.
Happy happy town.

Look up the definition of "expert." Does peru hire people for positions that's they are a expert in the field that they were Appointed to? I think not. NOBODY HAS ANSWERED THE BLOGGERS QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS. AND I MEAN NOBODY. SO? MUST BE TRUE THAT THEY REALLY DONT HAVE THE QUALIFICATIONS, that they are Harls right hand man. ?????

Expert - person who is a common everyday individual who is hired to tell you how to do something the way you have been already doing it for years who is from a 100 miles away. Incidentally this person upon leaving the will never be seen in it again nor invited back.
Reminding one of the Redevelopment firm from St. Louis for downtown Peru's renovation. Once the new Mayor was elected his only answer to contacting them before the 20 years were up for further advice and knowledge and a evaluation was Why?, What for?
Take a ride through downtown Peru, and than take a ride through the downtown's of Morris, Ottawa, LaSalle, Princeton and than ask Why? What for?
Modern government business thought is to consider a towns expansion as a positive addition to the original downtown rather than a deterioration of it.

Wow, I just read this blog, and obviously the people that have posted their comments about one small part of the total show have NEVER watched modern television, movies, listened to the radio, or watched music videos, EVER. If they had, they would have seen women's skin, and heard sexual inuendos. So, that is ok, but because this is a rock concert, let's complain that it's all the sudden not ok for that. Jeez, people get a life, and get out of the 1950's.

Oh, the Suicide Girls have been cancelled from the show, so you should all be happy. I still felt I had to post my comments so you all can think about what you hear/see on a daily basis that is "OK".
