To those who took part in the success of Winter Fun Day at McKinley Park seeing these two pictures with the huge smiles you must have been rewarded a million times over. Its great to have a town where adults can be kids with their kids and their kids can be kids too.

It was a magical day. Snow lightly falling added to the winter fun. The ice skating rink is in great shape and it was so fun to watch the kids and adults skating. The hill was super busy with sleds. A nice time was had by all who attended. I talked to people who were from LaSalle, Peru, Ladd and Streator! Great job, Alderman Perez!

The peru resident Brett King who volunteered at this nice event is not related to our Fire Chief Jeff King. In case anybody was wondering.

Is this the event that city officials were against? This event that cost the city nothing? The event that had young and old alike laughing and having fun? Surely there's been a mistake and our city officials have made it. Shame on them.

Agree with 4:28. Shame on all the city officials. They are lousy excuses for public officials. I saw alderman Lukosus there for a bit. I'm sure he was only there to be able to report back to Boss Harl. Shame, shame, shame!

Who was against this event?

Much to do about nothing. A hotdog in a park, sledding down a hill. Who are these people that make such a big deal about a simple recreation event that happens everyday at a local park.
Do we need a flag pole for a bunch of kids playing baseball in the summer or a group of kids playing in the snow in winter. Its nice that the newspaper covered this event, and some nice people helped promote the event. I am not sure how the Mayor is involved in any negative way.

Great to see a nice event. There should be more events such as this. It takes a village to raise our children. A hard working family in many instances can't afford to go to the movies, bowling, professional sporting events, concerts, ... These events will be memories for families. Thanks you to all who volunteered.

If you don't understand the importance of this, there are not enough words in the English language to explain it to you. Also if you had been reading this blog you wouldn't be asking questions that have already been asked and answered. Good bye.

Much to do about a lot. A hot dog at McKinley Park. Sledding down a hill. @11:34 Where you ever a kid?You are assured that the Mayor is not involved in any positive way, even not a appearance. By now unless someone is a complete idiot they have reached the negative way the mayor is involved. He dispatched his two safety committee members to tell Chief King to tell Ald. Perez he could not use the fire truck for Winter Days.

I asked Rod Perez if Mayor Harl contacted him about this event. Rod said only one official responded to his request for assistance and that was Dave Potthoff. I guess it needs to be an election year to get officials off their rear.

It is a big to do when a mayor doesn't go to a city sponsored event perhaps he figured there would be no publicity attached he is a very sad wanna be leader if you ask me

The mayor says it is not a city sponsored event. That would mean that not one event sponsored at least partially by the Recreation Board is
a city sponsored event. This is nothing more than a word game with him.

11:34 the phrase is "much ado about nothing" from Shakespeare Play. I am sure it's one of Harls favorites. Right along with Battlestar Galactica and gidget.

But I agree, when it comes to Peru leadership we do have Much to do about Nothing. Much, much to do.

The mayor is generally not involved in any negative way. Unless it benefits him politically he generally is not involved any way at all.
