Using TIF funding to update and beautify the downtown area. I believe there is a TIF in downtown La Salle also as it was mentioned when Skoog's purchased the former D J's restaurant on Bucklin Street which had gone into foreclosure. Is Peru in need of a TIF downtown in order to attract business into the area?

Downtown Peru has been and would be the most deserving area for a TIF. It is a area which has paid taxes for many, many years and is blighted.

Yes, downtown Peru is deserving of and is desperately in need of a TIF. Just take a ride through downtown Peru. Than drive to 1st Street (downtown) LaSalle. Now I ask you to compare the three blocks which would constitute downtown. Which three blocks of downtown would be considered to becoming updated and which is deteriorating?

The so called city fathers of Peru showed their appreciation of downtown Peru recently by not directing the 175th Centennial Parade through it. This is the first Centennial Parade that did not go through downtown Peru in the history of our town. Maybe they didn't want to show off the new city building or the mirror building?

Ottawa is known for murals but its neighbor to the east is getting in on the act. A public unveiling happens this afternoon at 1 for a history mural in Marseilles. The 40-foot mural designed by local artist Tim Trumbo has 222 images covering Marseilles’ 175 year history. The mural is on the north wall of Carroll’s Flowers and Gifts in the 400 block of Main Street.

Just another little community gives its town a facelift.
