Well what do you know? The new asst engineer is also going to be asst code enforcement officer. Now maybe somebody will enforce the ordinances that Jeff King seems not to see. He likes playing favorites.

We should ask ourselves if he will have a decrease in pay? Another asst. What in the world is going on Mr. Harl? You appt. one to a position with a huge salary, then an asst. comes in to play. Where are the alderman, what are they doing?

Heard today a request to state election board was sent Friday to investigate the W camp..where is that $ coming from

Why is it necessary to request the state election board to investigate the W camp Friday when a open election will be held Tuesday?
If money raised for a campaign through private donations is your concern you must accept the fact that this is the way most campaigns are supported?
If you believe that the money supporting Alderman Waldorf is coming from TEST and Chamlin and possibly other vendors that he is directly conducting businesses with as a city official solid proof will have to be presented and proven. Not hearsay or rumors of, a donation of green back dollars under the table would be hard to prove unless someone would admit to it which will not happen.
The 3rd ward has a very good candidate in Travis Nelson who if given the opportunity wants to and will represent the citizens with business intelligence, integrity and open communication and transparency. It will be the peoples decision to what they want for the next 4 years Tuesday, more of the embarrassing past or respect from Alderman Nelson in the future.

I would say that the State Board of Elections would be interested if "W" did not submit a campaign disclosure report. Any politician that collects or spends more than $2,999 must submit the paperwork. Even if it is his or her own money. "In Kind" contributions such as signs, etc. are also considered donations and must be itemized.
The Boss has filed his report and has indicated no expenses this quarter.
I would imagine all the advertising "W" has done amounts to more than $3,000. There is no report currently on file for "W." I bet this is a violation of state law.

11:10, that is what you are betting, my bet is your wrong, nothing will become of this except sour grapes from your group. Get over it, Tuesday is the election, except what the people want one way or another.

11:10 I bet you are wrong, just except the fact there is no illegal action going on and vote the way you see fit Tuesday, you people are pathetic.

Now, you should all know that the report is not due yet. Thats what i hate about the truth spewers in this blog. They dont disclose the whole truth before they start complaining.

I'm just stating a simple fact. If a candidate spends more than $2,999 on his campaign, he must submit a report. "W" has not. And I think he has spent more than that. So, I think he has committed a crime. We will see after the election.

It's called " Pizza money"

Anon 11:10 AM
What is the date that the State Board of Elections has set for the campaign disclosure report if a candidate has collected or spent more than $2,999.
A candidate would have to be insane to spend $3,000 or more to acquire a political position that doesn't pay $5,000 per year.

Anonymous said...

7:36, yes you are right. The disclosure report is not due until April 15th. The Illinois politicians purposely set it up this way to avoid telling on themselves just before an election.... but I digress.
"W" has not even filed for the establishment of a committee. That would be on file if he did. That being said, he may be in violation if he spent more than $2,999. Before spending ANY money above that amount, a committee must exist.

Anonymous said...

Once again 7:51, has the crime been committed if the report is not due yet? The ads were just purchased and probably not paid for yet. Just facts please.

The total has been raised to $5,000 for reported election expenses!

Truth in commercials........

A candidate professed on his commercial that he saved Peru $70,000. The actual story is that Peru received a bid for $70,000 for the entire landscaping, flowers, etc. The bid was rejected. The candidate did get a group to plant flowers in the City for less. That's not saving the City $70,000 is it! I guess in politics it is and if you multiply that by 4 years, did he save the city $280,000 and if re-elected for another 4 years that would be $560,000 without inflation. Another 8 years and he saved the city $1,120,000!
In Chicago Chuy ran a 5 million dollar budget, when it was 1.2 million and had a $400,000 loss! And good old Rahm decreased shootings!
The point is that even if the town is 100 miles away from Peru, some of these political commercials sound the same.

8:16 You don't need a committee, just file the reports and they are not due until well after the election. It's not about how much you spent, it's a report to indicate where the money came from. For example Bruce Rauner spent $25 million on the campaign. The report is to track contributions and make sure they are within standards. A Peru candidate may have spent $5,000, that won't make the campaign illegal.

Anonymous said...

your are right. It looks like they upped it from $3K to $5K in the last year or so. But, the candidate does need to create a committee and - an this is done by filling a report. The committee could be the candidates wife or friend and the candidate. Someone needs to act as treasurer and sign the report. That could be the candidate himself. The point is, in order to spend above the limit, the committee needs to exist. I don't think it can happen all at the same time.

Since Harl has already submitted his quarterly report indicating that he spend no money - he has put it on record that he did NOT give any support for W or any other candidate.

So the questions will be- how much did W spend on all the sings (assuming most of them are new and NOT recycled), all the newspaper ads, the mailings, and radio ads (I haven't heard any, but I quit listening to local radio when WLPO changed its format and their morning host go all high mighty and started pushing his newly acquired morality.)

So - after the election, when "W" wins, because he will... I think it would be appropriate for him to report how much money he spent even if he does not have to do so to the state board. He will owe it to the citizens to prove he did not skirt the reporting law.

I think it is best if "W" wins this election. In the long run, this will help replace Boss Harl in two years. With "W" on the council, Harl will be able to implement whatever plan he has. From what I understand this involves spending huge amounts of money and raising several taxes.

It is easier to prevent than to undo what has been done. We should have learned that by now in Peru.

Let W. retire before he helps implement any more damage to this city as we are in sad shape right now.

I know that there is $2,000,000 in the budget for a new Public Works building. I know there's been talk about needing one but when was this amount voted on and what committee submitted it and where is all this money coming from?

It is easier to build a new ship instead of fixing one that has run aground.

I can't disagree with you more Lois, this city is in fine shape maybe not to your liking but the bulk if the residence in this city are very happy with the direction the city is going, an easy way of telling is to see who gets re-elected tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

Maybe peru can acquire the township building. Nothing done out of that building except waste taxpayer money!! Less than 5 miles of road to keep this township and pay $30,000 salaries to who?? talk about truth and full disclosure. moan, moan, moan....

Anonymous said...

1:26 Pm, How easy is it when the ship has no one at the helm in the first place and the crew is in a constant state of mutiny?

Anonymous said...

12:34 - where it is coming from is easy. It is coming from taxes. The question I have is - If the $2,000,000 figure is accurate (no reason to argue with it now) how much of that is to tear down the existing building on Peoria Street? I bet none. My bet is that The Boss and W will hit us with that one as an "oh, by the way" after the fact.
It would be a good bet that there are multiple environmental issues with that building and tearing it down will not be cheap. And leaving it standing empty or selling it to somebody else that will eventually abandon it are both out of the question.

That is quite the plan. The election is not over and you are already gearing up for the next round.

New taxes and spending HUGE amounts of money? Why didn't you use that in the recent election? I think your much better off running misleading commercials and mailings.

9:40 Happy you got another jab in ? So what if it wasn’t $70,000 exactly. It saved a hell of a lot more, than anyone else in this town did, in trying to make the town look a little nicer. From now on, no one should do anything to make things look decent. Then you can find something else to complain about. Because of people like you , I for one, will not volunteer to do anything anymore. Try to do something decent and get criticized for it.

3:25 Truth !! Is that sortta like when you estimate your deductions on your income tax ? Well, at least one good thing. Peru must really be an honest place, seeing as you could only find one to pick on.

Roughly 11.5 hours left until we no longer have to put up with "W". and one election closer to the dethroning of King Harl.

If General Collin Powell, a modern day American hero, was not such a gentleman it would be interesting to know what he thinks of these high ranking politicians.
Our country lost a great leader when he refused to run for President. Presently we don't have anyone in office or attempting to run worthy of polishing his boots.
