Summer Is Coming Time To Think Outdoor Time, Community Events

This looks like so much fun for people of all ages and an event to know your neighbors in your city. Every year people complain that our city does little in the way of providing events for all ages.  Here is an idea.

Does anyone know why the city of Peru is buying the property behind the new CVS? It couldn't possibly be being considered as a location for the proposed new police station - could it? That would, in my opinion, be a terrible location because that is already a very busy location. Is the city going into the real-estate business?

Peru, the city in Illinois, has been rumored to be in real estate for some time. The possibility of its economic director collecting a illegal commission for selling and buying property while being employed by the city. Also the Economic Director's sleigh in hand $1.00 sale of city property to out of town developers to preserve status of others personal property at a significant financial loss to later be sold to the city.
Yes Peru is a dirty little city, governed by dirty little people, for their own dirty reasons.

Cities sometimes purchases property in certain locations that they feel would be best to control for whatever reason. I've seen schoiol districts purchase property that is adjacent because they think it is best to do so. The worst thing that happens is eventually they have real estate to sell but they are not doing it for some weird conspiracy theory. The owner of every parcel of property can be looked up at the county assessor's office so there are no secrets.

Our city does not have dirty little people running it. That's what some of you said about the previous mayor and council and there are only two of those original people left. But we are supposed to believe it is all dirty and corrupt and on and on right?

I'll stick with getting good information from reliable sources, not some anonymous nut. No offense.

Much of what you have said is true and particularly the remarks regarding previous Mayor Baker who is looking pretty responsible in consideration of our present government.
I will say it again and again, our city government has a huge communication problem and I don't mean with regard to what they release to the N.T. which most people never read because their subscriptions are so low and it is not in most peoples budget.
Lots and lots of cities make it a habit to get information to their residents a whole lot sooner than Peru does and certainly in different manners. It just appears that not only do they hold illegal meetings but evidently are terribly frightened of social media which is where many city mayors and governments get their messages out. We hold no few festivities so the community never sees their elected officials in a friendly way. And on and on. This is just the way it is.
There is a big difference between talking at someone and talking to someone which is called a discussion.

Do you or anyone believe that if a city was interested in a property that others would not drive up the price? As we have scene on many occasions property owners will ask for enormous prices on properties that a city has development or interest in. Examples the downtown properties and airport farmland. I am not sure that our city violated any open meetings act in this instance? According to the NT the meetings were discussing property.

With all the negative things that are being said about the city of Peru. The money grabbing vendetta driven Atyy. and her anonymous clients. Yesterday at the airport was one of the coolest events in the Ill. valley.
Thousands of spectator came out enjoyed great weather and saw an air show that was spectacular. So for all you people who say the City of Peru does nothing for the community you missed out on a great day.

Thank you City officials and all the VOLUNTEERS who helped make it possible.

You won't get any disagreement from me that it was an event truly enjoyed by many residents of the Illinois Valley. Also sure the people that came extended far beyond the city of Peru. Now what can we add to that for people who are unable to get to the airport for the event?
