This blog is maintained for the sole purpose of allowing the people of Peru and those interested in the cities of the Illinois Valley to express their views.
“It doesn’t take a majority to win, just a tireless minority that will keep starting brush fires in the mind and hearts of their fellow men.” Samuel Adams
And the rest of the story. My version would be very different.

Where is the rest of the 1.7 million dollars coming from. Only approximately $450,000 is accounted for. No one at city hall is telling us where the money is coming from so how can we procede without the funding?
Upon reading facebook this morning many Peru residents were complaining about discolored, smelly water. Some even said they contacted ppd and they had no clue as to what the problem was. Someone else said that there appeared to be a problem at 7th and West streets as a yard was dug down to the water mains. My question is "Why are these situations not announced on WLPO and why do we not seem to ever issue a boil order"? All our surrounding neighbors inform their citizens when they have a water main break and when a boil order is issued. Are we too proud or stubborn to admit we are human and encounter the same problems as our neighbors do? Do we think our water is so perfect that no matter how discolored or smelly it is we call it SAFE? Just curious!!
The city has running water and electricity, is it that hard to imagine a splash pad instead of the same old cement pond that everybody has. Yes sometimes Peru has new ideas that other communities have done for years. Why all the critics out there?
On another note, why such a big deal about having a pool like the good old days? We have outdoor pools everywhere and some very nice indoor pools. Why is it the responsibility of government to provide you and everybody else with complete recreation and fun at no cost?

You only order a boil order when it is needed and mandated. Obviously, a boil order was not needed.
our problem is instead of qualified people running the show we have ASS's & ASM's or whatever!
Aunt Bee,
