Opinion | Time to start taking political ignorance seriously

Opinion | Time to start taking political ignorance seriouslyThis was written for the purpose of reviewing the recent national election but I  do believe it can be about any election on any level of government. Why did the county of La Salle turn blue this recent election and why did our township turn very blue?  Without getting into personalities what is going on?

The Township was not totally blue. You have a Republican City Clerk and a Republican Assessor. The rest of the ticket went blue with all the trustees. Most of those were new 1st time running for office.
Why the trustees went blue? Could be the Trump confidence meter has gone down? It really tells us that the Clinton candidate was a big mistake for Democrats. We also don't believe the Township blue had anything to do with the personalities running on the Republican ticket. Most of them were well known and current Trustees. If you took the political party affiliation away you would have a different outcome. Did people vote based on those who support the dissolution of the Township? No, votes didn't reflect and most of us don't follow the recent political fight. Was this a political war? No, the only race that had any political barbs was the Mayor race.
It's hard to pinpoint the Democratic party takeover at the Township level. Maybe, the roots of Peru are still Democrats on the local level. It's also time to get rid of the political designations on the local ballot. Most of those candidates couldn't tell you the difference.

What this election did was put people in place that are open minded.
They will be willing to take a hard look at the township and decide if it needs to be dissolved. If it doesn't then it won't but Rigby and Mitchell needed to go, that way a civil conversation could take place.
You could show them the savings and they still would say they their salaries are justified, even with the cuts.
