Madigan budget debate: House Minority Leader Jim Durkin on SB 2048
Of course he voted for the spending bill. He was appointed to vote for any spending bill. The bill will get the Rauner veto and we will continue this game of showmanship. How can anyone expect to approve a budget with several billion dollars of debt? Iron Mike and his minions need to give the State some responsible fiscal management. This will go on until elections with the hope new blood will save the State. The election cycle will react more division and more problems.
The hope is that all the money will dry up by fall and the residents of Illinois will feel the pinch. Then the pols will be forced into action. The common sense solution of cutting expenses down the line, bringing in business friendly laws, public pension reforms, and limiting the power of the public employee unions, along with a incremental income tax increase will be a big step forward. Its time to sink or swim.
