“It doesn’t take a majority to win, just a tireless minority that will keep starting brush fires in the mind and hearts of their fellow men.” Samuel Adams
I hate to inforn you and anyone else that this stone monument does not generate retail sales taxes and therfore has no importance within the Leadership of The Leader of the Illinois Valley. Wal Mart, Menards, Home Depot, Kohls and Target are todays monuments of success and artistic beauty. Peru does not even have signage directed to this park. Basically the general feeling has become it is better to not acknowledge and to leave this park alone than get present representation involved and screw everything up.
I saw the article in the NT about the missing sward and cannon balls. My theory is that the monument was sold to scrappers for $1.00 to clean up the pigeon poop. The council later purchased it back when the scrapping company went out of business before actually cleaning up after the pigeons.
Anon 6:59PM Are you saying that the Peru electrical faciity was not the 1st unsuccessful $1.00 demolition. What is considered more dangerous pigeon poop or mercury? Is the city using that mercury laced dump truck found at the Hennepin Hunting reservation? Does the city still have the same insurance carrier at the same price?
Anon 10:46, why are you saying that the truck that was stolen is full of mercury, that truck was never used for anything to do with the electric dept.demolition, get your facts before you come up with made up innuendo .
Anon 8:38 AM My mistake, wrong city truck. Since you know so much about it please let us know which truck it was. Good of you to emphasize that THAT TRUCK was never used for anything to do with the electric dept. demolition. So in by eliminating the so called "Hunting Truck" would you inform all of which truck was used or which trucks were used for the electric dept. demolition. Do they glow at night or sound off when tested with a geiger counter?
Anon 9:16, if you really knew anything about the demolition of the electric plant you would know not one city truck was used. Contractors tore it down using their own equipment and trucking, plus taking it away to special dump sites, not the cities.
