please let us know the outcome as soon as possible. I'm out of town and can't go to the meeting.

If guilty, Stand up and admit it and people will give a lot of credit instead of digging the hole deeper.

Wonder if there will be a problem with the video afterwards. HA!HA! Wouldn't surprise me. Someone who attends should tape meeting with their cell just in case.

Is Mayor Harl is protected by 7 council members! They refused to turn investigation over to State Police! However, all 8 said to turn it over to Towne at the States Attorney??? Doesn't a criminal Act need to be investigated by the police first?????? If you steal something doesn't the City Police investigate????? Or is this type of crime not worthy of a true investigation by the State Police!!!! Fishy Smell of Democratic Politics involved???? Mayors attorney is Tony R was thrown out at the meeting tonight. Big name in the Valley, People think about it!!!!!

For clarification purpose: The statement "Mayors attorney is Tony R was thrown out at the meeting tonight." In actuality should have been stated "It was mentioned during conversation on the council floor that Attorney Antony C. Raccuglia is conducting Mayor Harls legal matters in the current investigation.
It is always best to proofread your comments to make sure they are stating facts as correctly intended before submitting to the blog as a comment..
Attorney Raccuglia was a wise choose by Mayor Harl as he has a extensive successful history in the legal profession. His Father, Sam, was a LaSalle City Councilman for more than 40 years and Tony himself was a Assistant States Attorney and LaSalle Corporate Council for years.

1059 should I act like the mayor and address him as Mr Raccuglia now? Or have respect and call him Attorney Raccuglia!!!!! I guess mayors Attorney can teach him to be respectful. Or just keep his mouth shut. That's a FACT!

How many times in Mayor Harls administration has he not followed proper procedures?

The report has been sent to the State's attorney. It would be redundant to have another report done and then send that report to the State's Attorney Office. The Office may read the report and we may agree or disagree with the verdict. However, the opinion of the Office is the only opinion that counts.

9:44 Get off the ledge and come in out of the cold. According to the Newspaper account Ald.Perez did not want the report to go to the State's Attorney's Office. Nobody was thrown out of the meeting. Think about your comment that 7 council members want to protect Harl. Is having a respected former Judge handle the investigation protection? Is sending the report to the State's Attorney protection? Lets use your quote, "People think about it".

Anon 9:55 Could you elaborate? For some unknown reason you have completely lost me in your comment. I thought that county law had power over city and county and state law had power over city, county and state and that federal law prevailed over all the above mentioned.

HAVE A OUTSIDE AUDIT DONE. Would be well worth the money. And yes, attorneys do tell their client to keep their mouth shut. But, when a trial happens, most questions are fair game. One lie leads to another, and in a court proceeding a judge can hear it all. And judges know people do still lie at trial. Never assume you're smarter then a judge. Evidence such as paperwork, true documents can be a death sentence. AUDIT!

10:20 All local charges stem from the States Attorney Office.

wasn"t the state's attorney a contributor to harl's campaign?

Anonymous said...

Check out Harls campaign donations as to who has contributed. Have to laugh.

Seems most of the people who have been and are involved in this investigation have donated to Harls campaign fund. That being the truth, then how
Can investigation be an honest one? I'm not the smartest person on the block, but surely not the stupidest one either.

This story is so simple: mayor gets hand stuck in the cookie jar, expert lawyer tells him what to say and what not to say to examiner, examiner says mayor is wrong but...so what...he was trying to do the right thing, wink, wink. Story over whether you taxpayers like it or not.

Wink wink so nice to hear from you. Didn't think you'd have anything left in the tank as overused as you have been recently. For those who haven't met wink wink she is the Energizer Bunny who just keeps on running or the Timex watch that just keeps on ticking' of Peru politics.
Highly overused, mistreated and underpaid, surviving with benefits worse than a convicted felon in a penal institution wink wink continues to fight for justice.
But all admit, even wink herself, that she is slowly being reduced to a echo in the dark.
Wink Wink hungers for the days when Peru represented progress and jobs, hope, vision and future instead of a town which lives under court supervision.
P.S. Wink Wink if you wonder upon the A of DS would you say hello for all of us and tell him that we are anxious to hear from him!

just wondering if I could donate to Harls campaign and get a city job and recieve overtime for hours not worked? Seems like a good deal to me.
I know that in regular business, it would be grounds for termination for manipulating a time card-no questions asked!

the conversation between Judge Balestri and Gary Bleck must have been very interesting and wisely Gary Bleck documented the OT with approved by Harl notes. The first OT approvals occurred about the same time that the new mayor would complain that he could not do much because of his relationship with the council and yet he was giving the OT behind the councils back. This really says something about his personality and integrity.

Doesn't the history of a person usually repeat itself? Everything since 2009 should be looked into. Disappointed in all the council. Thought more of a couple of the alderman. Can't believe all the closed sessions since 2009. That's something that should be checked into also.

Anonymous said...

10:17. I think the aldermen like the closed sessions. It gives them power over the public. That's why they never release the minutes. The only transparent one of the entire bunch is Rodney, and the others try to shut him up.

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:42 Rodney is the role model of transparency. Alderman Potthoff also has a long history of being transparent in Peru politics.
I have never witnessed Alderman Potthoff try to shut up any other aldermen.
Alderman Perez is to be complimented on his stand last Monday as Alderman Potthoff should also be. Aldermen Potthoff showed a lot of class in his discussion with the representative whom Ald Perez invited to the meeting. They represented Peru as I want Peru to be represented. Good work Aldermen!

@1:12 PM In almost all situations there is a 80%-20% Rule. This is a simple rule meaning that eventually you will find that 20% of the body do all the work and 80% end up doing nothing.
The Peru City Council having a body of 8 in which 2, Ald. Potthoff and Ald. Perez, do the vast majority of the citizenship representation of the council we the citizens of Peru find ourselves fortunate to live under a 25%-75% Rule. Hopefully the referendum this March helps Dave Potthoff and Rod Perez to establish Peru not only as the city the young want to live in but the city that those who have lived here previously want to return to.

The machine will eliminate both of them. Count on it!

@12:58 PM If you are referring to the same as I think of when you mention "the machine" I cannot remember it ever being weaker or more disorganized.
