Local businesses and labor unions provide much needed facilities upgrade for Peru Fire Department
Local businesses, labor organizations, and individual volunteers are working collectively to provide a major upgrade to the livng quarters at the Peru Fire Department. Peru Fire chief Jeff King initiated the effort to improve the living conditions for the on duty full-time driver Firefighters who work shifts of 24 hours at the station house. The much needed upgrades include a more spacious bunk area as well as updated kitchen and bathroom facilities. I am convinced that this type of co-operative volunteer effort is the basic foundation that the city of Peru must continue to build on. While the total pricetag for these improvements without volunteer efforts and discounted materials could have been nearly $50,000, the actual cost to the taxpayers of Peru and Dimmick Township will be approximately $20,000 due to volunteer labor from local unions and discounted materials from local suppliers and contractors. We must recognize Fire Chief Jeff King and Mayor Scott Harl for their combined efforts in co-ordinating and managing this project. Also, a thank you to the city council for allowing the project to go forward. I intend to post a more detailed list of all individuals, volunteer organizations, and contractors after the project is complete.

What a pleasant and enlightening post! It's nice to finally read where people are uniting to make a well deserved organization grow and prosper. Mr. King has, in my opinion, done an outstanding job to make our fire department what it is today and is always looking for ways to make our town safer and better prepared. Thank you to all who have participated and continue to participate to improve our safety and our town.
WOW ! The city council got praise ...
WOW 2:30 PM Does there always have to be sarcasm in every situation? Just accept the compliment and move on.
2:30 p.m. Only your deceitful attitude would attempt to overturn such a positive posting into a negative. Evidently by now everyone knows who you are but do not honestly know what you stand for, nor care.
The city council was acknowledged, not praised.
Wonderful! Keep up the good work! Its amazing what can be done, when we all work together. Wonderful.
