Lois: Is this an indication that should we receive the swimming pool grant that there is no guarantee that somewhere along the line they could cancel it?
When I read this article, my first thought was why would the state be giving grants for recreation and cutting cost to those in need. Sure it is possible that the state will find itself so short of funds they cannot fulfill the grant obligations.
Then my next question is "are we prepared to cover the entire cost without going into further debt?" I've heard mention to borrow the money, I surely hope we wouldn't do that considering our financial situation.
I sure hope not either. Peru, still owes $772,00, to Home Town National, for the money borrowed on the new Municipal building. Remember, they borrowed it, when they couldn't sell the mirror building. I think Peru should start cutting back on the recreation, and put the money to better use, for more people than would be used by so few.
This doesn't belong under this heading but I don't know where else to put it. Steve, have you received the aldermen's receipts from the convention yet? I thought you were going to post them. Also, have we learned anything of value from the aldermen who did attend? Did any of them even mention what conferences they attended?
8:16 p.m. - I requested all expense reimbursement records for all city officials for the IML Conventions from 2006 thru 2010 so we could make comparisons year to year. I recieved those records from the city last Thursday. Lois has been looking through them. I have been unable to spend much time on that particular issue at present. We will add things up and report the cost to the taxpayers and we will also point out any excesses that may have occurred and post those records. We will have a report before the next council meeting. There has been no report of any kind thus far in open meeting by any alderman of any benefit to the city from attending the convention.
Since our wise folks are looking over the IML expenses , Does that mean we DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A CITY AUDIT AT THE END OF THE YEAR made by the CPA? Great we can save some money..

Someone is teasing us Lois. Someone who apparently does not see the Convention expenses as a waste of taxpayer dollars. Who do you think it could be?
