Ice Hockey May Soon Arrive Across the Street From You on Plain and.or 12th St.
Have the aldermen consulted neighboring residents? Thoughts on location of proposed rink. I was under the illusion that this would be a neighborhood skating rink for our cities residents. Evidently many of us were misled.
I happened to find myself in a conversation with a "Hockey Mom" today. She talked about most of the hockey teams prefering to use the indoor ice rinks in some of the larger cities. Evidently the ice rink at Echo Bluff has "coolers" to maintain the ice during periods of warmer weather in the winter. This link has some answers.

Where is Echo Bluffs? Hockey is a very popular spectator sport in the U.S. but upon considering to build a government sponsored rink a qualified group of medical attendants & officials must be supplied as it is considered a very physical sport. Weren't the sled days discontinued on account of liabilities?
Why is Peru giving thought to a hockey rink when it does not put its already owned ice skating rink up until the winters over? Seriously should Peru's next purchase be a calendar?
Has anyone totaled a count of ice skaters at the Peru rink this winter before a lot of money is spent for few?
Monday March 26th there is a Public Services meeting. The agenda has absolutely nothing on it except to approve a quote from Peru Greenhouse to once again tend to the planters that used to be voluntarily maintained. That's it. I've never seen such a vague agenda. Are they afraid people might attend if they post the topics or don't they want people to attend so they can make decisions without interruption?

Echo Bluff is an all season park located in Hall Twp., Bureau Cty. They have an ice rink and believe part of it has coolers in a section devoted to times when hockey is allowed. If you have more information, we would appreciate it.
if Peru did what LaSalle did last night sneaking in a sales tax increase without warning we would march on city hall

No, hiring competent people is a start.
Peru pulled a fast one and got a new school, LaSalle is pulling a fast one to keep from being like the state, buried in debt.
807 I hear you. Where is the anti crew good government folks at now?
It would seem plausible and logical to use the rink for roller-blade hockey and roller skating in the temperate seasons. In a video from years past, the pickleballers proclaimed they could play their game "anywhere" - even in front of Westclox.

There were open meetings about the sales tax for the schools. They are announced and the public was invited.
all you had to do is get out from behind the key board and go.
According to the agenda for the April 16th council meeting another $110,000 will be added to the splash pad budget along with another $7500 to someone to manage the operation of the splash pad itself. Wonder how many summer workers will also be added to the payroll to run the splash pad?
