May 23, 2015 Looking Back at the Change in Peru Government and Now

http://www.newstrib.com/news/local_news/peru-may-revamp-unusual-administrative-structure/article_132de426-e7cc-5527-987c-a31a7f7f412f.html

An interesting look back at how Peru has evolved into the current structure of the city.  Read  the comments made by current Administrative Employees' How many positions will one person be allowed to have?  It appears that the newly developed proposition of a combined Police Dept., might have an affect on the structure of the Peru Administration.

If the new design of police service in the Illinois Valley actually takes place, will it change the structure of Peru government? When the 2015 changes were made, maybe there should have been a required evaluation of how well it is working or not and it should have been designed to have public input as well as employee input, within a specific time frame such as 3 or 5 years.

Take a few minutes to read the news from 2015 and share your thoughts.

Does the city of Peru have a plan in mind should one of the leaders decide to move on or our police chief becomes the head of the new joint police force? Surely he does not possibly think he could do justice adding another position to his already full slate. It's already apparent that justice could not be done with all the responsibilities Mr. King was given. His duties as Code Enforcement Officer and Building and Zoning Inspector have been taken over by new hire-es. In the above article Mayor Harl does admit if or when either of these chiefs retires or moves on our structure will have to be totally revamped. Has our council done any planning on this topic or will they just wait until something happens and then make quick unplanned decisions?

For information only:
According to the agenda for Monday's (3/19) council meeting we will once again be purchasing 2 vehicles and seeking another person to add to our payroll. The money just seems to keep flowing our way. I wonder if we have enough workers to man the many vehicles we have stored up north at our new public works building.

According to the disbursements to be approved at the next council meeting our economic director was reimbursed $438.17 for mileage. At the going rate of approximately 58 cents per mile that comes to over 700 miles. That seems a little ridiculous to me. Where is he going at that rate and what time period does this cover (1 month, 2?)?

Would it be possible to put one of the stored vehicles to use ?? Sure would be nice to see street sweeper, sweeping the crumbled up street edges, so that should we get another snowfall, the snow plow doesn't deposit all that asphalt in peoples yards. Is that not what this piece of equipment is for ??

Having not seen the new street sweeper which was purchased over 2 years ago most Peruvians are not sure of what it is used for. Could it possibly be used to plow snow out of Dalzell driveways? Surely if the "power" looks hard and deep enough he will find a way to bluff a legality or two of his own to invent another legislative, judicial, or executive branch of home cooking.
Is it fair to the citizenship of Peru to be governed first by a unelected officials own version of the law and than by the states version of the laws.

Isn't this a violation of state law? Democrats take back over and now shrouded in secrecy again!
