Contentious City Council Meeting This Evening

" What we've got here is failure to communicate"

The quote is from a well known movie of the past years and seems appropriate.

If you have been recently following this blog, you will recall my concern for lack of communication between the city and its residents.

I understand the settlement of the recent lawsuit   between Peru and a resident of the city in which the city was ordered to pay a sizeable sum of money for not repairing home damage caused by the cities sewer issues.  At that time our City Atty told the home owner to sue the City, when they did not agree to pay for the repairs.  Well she did and I understand won many times the requested $12,000.
That lady attended the meeting this evening and expressed her feelings.

Additionally there are currently issues with the City Credit card being used improperly. I will not detail this issue because this is one that our Peru news reporter should cover in detail.

As a result of the Peru City Attorneys advice to sue how much did the lawsuit award the harmed party of the St. John's edition? Wasn't the same Department Head who mishandled his city credit card involved in this lawsuit also? What is his present pay and what is he costing the city to pay for his fringe benefits per year? Why would a experienced Mayor continue to employ this obviously unqualified individual to so poorly represent the city, could the reason be that he is also not qualified and has no hands on management ability?

I know where your going with this. The person that sued the city perceived a loss. Insurance companies litigate it accordingly. The result may or may not have fault. Some settle and all are about money not about who's at fault. As far as particular blame to the same person as the credit card issues, I doubt that the former alderman had any involvement.

Nowhere in the comment of 9:37 is the former alderman mentioned. Who is mentioned is the Department Head who foolishly loaned out his city credit card and the Mayor. By now everyone knows who this Department Head is.
When speaking of the lawsuit of the 12th St. property promises were made to the property owner by city reps before the ins. company was contacted.
Upon reading your comment it appears that you have first hand knowledge of Peru's government promises plus insurance proceedings.

The responsibility of the credit card rests with the person the card has been issued to. Whose name is on this card? Does this person still maintain his position with the City of Peru? It is evident he is not faithful to the city and has performed a illegality. What is the pay of a starting fire chief in comparison to the present one? Good-Bye
