Sounds familiar, taken from former Mayor Bakers playbook when he traveled to Japan.

Here comes a Fortune Cookie factory for Peru. Leave it to BV. He'll go tripping anywhere as long as it doesn't cost him a penny.

I recently read an article in the tribune with regards to a possible TIF being established for the Peru Mall area. In the article Mr. Vickrey details a 10 point process that possibly needs to be followed to create this TIF. This was news to me so I went back to the agendas for the most recent Public Services meeting and the most recent City Council meeting. Neither agenda mentions anything about a TIF being discussed. As a matter of fact, if you look at the current Public Services agendas they are extremely vague. It's almost as though they either have nothing to discuss or they don't want citizens to know what they are going to discuss and attend their meetings. It seems, to me, that our current sitting council is becoming less and less transparent and that we, the citizens of Peru, have to rely on our newspaper to find out what's happening in our town. I believe all citizens want from their government is transparency and communication. Honest transparency and communication. Just my thoughts and opinion.

Rather strange place (China) to go to for economic purposes. Most people refer to the products produced in China as junk and speak very disparagingly about the quality of the items they make. The U.S. is currently trying to increase our manufacturing in this country and to encourage private entrepeneurs to make and sell their products right here in the U.S. And our elected officials want to get get what from China. The Chinese can produce everything they currently sell in this country made much cheaper in their own country of China and not pay union wages and or our minimum wages which I'm sure are more costly than theirs.

What am I missing?

I remember a dress factory in Spring Valley that hired many of the local ladies to work there. certainly they have nothing like that in mind.

I have a friend who went to China with family to adopt a child from China, in fact they went twice.

Considering the state of the international relations with that part of the world, I have no answers. What do you think is the motive?

Those two self-serving, self-important city clowns must be required to provide the citizens of Peru a list of goals and objectives explain what the taxpayers of Peru can expect to gain from sending them and their wives on a free vacation to China of all places.
They must create a list of benchmarks that will verify if this trip has been successful down the road. If they don't have a plan to show us before the go then they should not be allowed to go.

State Rep Jerry long is going along with mayor's of Ottawa and LaSalle. If you want more details I'm sure they are there. They are going to represent our town along with others in the illinois valley.

Correction: Jeff Grove, La Salle Mayor, is not going on this trip to China. Please get your facts correct, before talking about others in your blog. Thank you.

Gov. Rauner and Inga Carus recently went to China for business purposes. What did they report upon their return? All of a sudden why do such low rankers of small city gov. have to spend to travel to China? Does Harl or free loading Bob have any expertise such as being able to speak Chinese?

Was a minor league baseball team highly interested in coming to Peru and they were flatly told that Peru didn't want them onlya short time ago. It has been repeated many times that a firm wanted to come to Peru but was asked if they were union by Harl when he was told no he told them to forget it. They were going to hire 400 to start with.
