This was recently brought to my attention as a position that Peru is looking to fill. I have to be honest and say that I don't keep up with the city site and don't know how long this has been on there. We have the ASM and the DSM positions so if we hire another Department head, what happens to the previously mentioned positions. According to the interviews conducted with them by the Administrative Task Force, everything is running perfectly now. What am I missing?

this has been on the web site for well over a year. They are keeping it there apparently in case they get a viable applications. Sounds like good business. Nothing more nothing less no conspiracy.
Thank you. To many it sounds like this job description is a fantasy dream individual to run the city but we don't really need them because we already have people doing a half way good job and that is all we need. If I were trying to convince the city that what I have put in place to take care of the city is very good, I would not be leaving something like that in place, just in case someone better comes along.
I believe 8:30 is correct and that this has been on the city website for quite some time. As a matter of fact I believe it is the job description that was sent out throughout the U.S. and our council commented that they could find no one that was qualified to fill the position. It is (you have to admit) quite an extensive job description. I'm not sure anyone would meet all of the requirements asked for. Anyway, because supposedly no one else could be found to handle the job I'm pretty sure that that is how the current ASM and PSM positions were established (first on a 6 month temporary basis and then full time).
The Task Force recommendations, as far as I can see, are still not going to be voted on by our council. I don't understand what the hold up or big deal is. They said they needed some time to go over the recommendation but that was weeks ago. Everyone knows what the results were why aren't they approving or rejecting the results?
10:10. What is there for the council to vote on? They don't need to take a vote to do nothing.

Why are comments like this posted? Let's hope you are joking 11:57.
11:57, what number did you call? The offices are not open at night. You should call the police dispatcher or the home phone number of your Alderman.
FYI - the electric department shouldn't really need you to call and tell them the power is out at a specific location. Any modern grid system includes sensors that will automatically notify the appropriate people when the power goes off-line. So if your frantic calls actually got through, the only thing you would accomplish is delaying the restoration of service.
Finally - Over the last decade, I can count on one hand the number of times power has gone out in Peru for more than ten or fifteen minutes.
Well said 12:40. We have an awesome electrical system. People who have never lived anywhere else freak out because the power goes out. It happens quite a bit other places. Not a big deal!
6:35, the only issue I have with our electric system here in Peru is the scalability. I have a sneaking suspicion that we are about maxed out on the capabilities. I am also concerned that reserves are not set aside to mitigate the effects of a disaster such as a tornado.
