Peru to build aesthetically pleasing public works building? - LaSalle News Tribune - LaSalle, IL
Location??? Aesthetically pleasing "in Peru" (lol)?? Really it is not funny but as a life long resident of this city and know this city quite well, I can't help but laugh because it is this type of thought that has left our downtown looking like it does as well as neglected aspects of some of our city parks, lack of reacreation facilities and on and on. I pray for some real leaders to emerge into this community to work for all of us not only the selected few.
This blog is maintained for the sole purpose of allowing the people of Peru and those interested in the cities of the Illinois Valley to express their views.

Since we in the Illinois Valley have a similar problem, is this something out PD might consider to help remedy the situation?. I say that because while it is a physical problem, it is also a mental health issue and the number of places offering mental health is very limited here in the IV.

Don't Ask Questions in Peru and We the City Will Not Tell You
REQUEST FOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT QUALIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING
Public Works Building Construction Management RFQ's
This link is seen on the Peru City web site and the information is all about the building of the 25 million dollar Public Works Bldg., even though we no longer have a Public Works director only a part time ASM and DSM. Evidently we have more city vehicles than we have room available to store them. The document is 5 pages in length and I encourage you to read if you have an interest.
The Peru City Council met for about 20 minutes last night and the only info was the Public burning ban including recreational fire pits.
But prior to that mtg., the Committee of a Whole (the Harl Committee) met from 5 PM to 7:15 PM met with 3 different entities concerning the razing of the Econo Lodge and future construction of a bldg., by one of the 3 companies interrested in owning the land. This was a CLOSED SESSION. Technically I believe it qualifies for being closed since it involves selling property but if they discussed what the 3 companies would like to do with the land, does that meet the closed meeting discussion. or should this part have been open to the public??.

Political News in the Illinois Valley
Time for a new heading to keep up with the political thoughts true and false, permeating the Illinois Valley. Local Elections are only about 18 months away and state wide and national elections just about one year.
Locally signs are beginning to appear in a few yards (Pride in Peru), do you have one?
and of course the Illinois Representative position being vacated by Frank Mautino and rumors surrounding that soon to be filled position by the Democratic Party.
Will the national election results have any impact on the upcoming local elections?

And we think we have issues, see if you can follow the plot in this true article. Police officers, police chiefs, city administrators and election signs in a police officers yard and finally lawsuits.

This was recently brought to my attention as a position that Peru is looking to fill. I have to be honest and say that I don't keep up with the city site and don't know how long this has been on there. We have the ASM and the DSM positions so if we hire another Department head, what happens to the previously mentioned positions. According to the interviews conducted with them by the Administrative Task Force, everything is running perfectly now. What am I missing?
