Before this gets any bigger than it is, I want to make a comment. Since we, the citizens, are not allowed to ask questions at City Council Meetings, we can only assume that what we see on the Disbursement Sheet is correct if it is not challenged by the mayor or council members.
With that in mind, I do remember seeing a disbursement for business cards for Alderman Waldorf and I believe it was for $42.00. I stated before that I asked the city the reason for this expenditure and received no answer. I have never heard that there was a challenge to this disbursement. Other residents evidently also saw this and have commented on it previously.
As Alderman Waldorf always says No questions, only comments please. If there is a legitimate reason, it should have been brought out at a council meeting as a correction and not left to linger and have people wondering for months about this expenditure. This is not a huge amount of money.
This led to a question, Does the City of Peru routinely pay for business cards for all elected officials running for office?
The expenditure is not large but has led to question the cities motives of "why"?
Perhaps Ald. Waldorf could clear this up for us.

I would think that alderman all can get business cards provided to be used for city business. It looks like you are making a mountain out of a molehill. I know the entire alderman be provided within reason things they need for city business. It seems like you are playing politics over this new post because you create posts about people you do not support but never about those have had you supported. When you do that it takes away from all the good posts over the years. Be fair and balanced. For example, I saw on Peru township bills a very big payment to Steve Weberski. I asked a trustee and he assured me that it was for a computer and some other things he wanted that would be used for township business. We all know you support Steve and that is fine. I do as well and voted for him but my point is that you did not make post about that. Why don’t you call Waldorf and ask him a question if you have one. If he does not have a good answer or tells you to jump in the lake then okay but you do not even know the fact. Treat everyone the same and then let the chips fall where they may.
10:35 is campaigning using business cards (public funds considered city business? Do you think Waldorfs opponent wants his tax payer dollars used for Waldorfs campaign? I'd think not. This to me is a clear violation and worth investigating. Wouldn't you agree to that since the mayor and Waldorf thought Alderman Perez was worth investigating? And all Perez did was drive his car to a park. Was Perez's car lettering paid for with city funds, or did Perez hand out his city paid for business cards at his fun day? Think about this- If Perez had handed out his cards at that fun day would that have been a clear violation? I think yes! This should be interesting to see how the mayor and council handles this. In fact the proof or evidence should be taken right over to the election board.
To 10:35 AM, You make a good point, but so does Lois. If it is "illegal" to use city funds for campaign purposes and Waldorf's cards were paid for with city funds as the disbursement sheet clearly indicates, then a law has been broken by Waldorf. My opinion is that Waldorf is just too damn cheap to use his own money and he's trying to save a buck. Too bad he isn't so frugal with taxpayer dollars. Also, you could follow your own advice and inquire directly with Mr. Weberski regarding the township. Just sayin!

You have figured out the intent of the blog. Remember this blog was started by the Mayor's campaign organizer. The blog has from the beginning been a tool to cast false or misleading or half true allegations against those political candidates the blog wants to remove from office. They will never post anything negative about those they support. Early on this blog was very pro-Harl until they realized Harl was more to the center than their radical agenda. Now with the long list of losing blog supported candidates such as Hart, Weberski, Mayszak, and on and on im sure Mr Nelson will have no chance if he is supported here. Even if he does manage to win I predict the blog will turn on Waldorfs challenger pretty fast when they see his support for most city actions. I already see on his Facebook page he supports the Council's decision to tear down Washington School.
A law has not been broken, they are his own cards even if the city bought them for their use. He is not too cheap. Despite what is said here Dave is a good person who cares about the city. I personally respect people who quietly reach out to their constituents without posting everything on Facebook and driving around with a car covered with their name. Most people have a good laugh at that kind of campaigning for alderman even if it is paid from their own funds. Anyway Dave cares about the city and about his ward. We are not close at all but he has always been very helpful and considerate to me and my neighbors. Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion.
Apple Press peeps said they bill the city for elected officials business cards and they are ordered by the clerk.
Bad choice by Waldorf to toss his cards in with hundreds of campaign letters. My as well just used city letterhead. Same thing. Like the police chief said in his investigation in the Trib. Whether it was 1.00 or 50,000.00 any public funds could be a misdemeanor depending on the situation. Waldorf clearly used public funds to campaign no question about it. Being the clerk ordered them while he was being paid with city tax dollars and used a city phone to make that call it's all city funds. Sounds petty to point that out but a 1.00 is $1.00 I will have to watch the council meeting on video when Perez was being investigated to hear what Waldorf had to say about it.
I think bottled water the city purchases is also wrong. I read this on this site a while back. ISN'T THE CITY WATER GOOD ENOUGH? Don't we have a water treatment plant?
The subject of this blog as everyone knows has been the City of Peru not the township. Knowing Mr. Weberski and Mr. Waldorf there is no doubt who would respond personally and who would not of any thing said. Probably the discussion that should be analyzed here is if Mr. Weberski has the knowledge to use the computer or if he is like the engineer that the Public Services Chairman hired who needs another hiree, a IT person, to make use of the expensive program the city purchased. Knowing Steve Weberski he will know how to use what he recommends to be purchase before it is bought.
12:36 PM
You are very wrong as this blog was not started by Mayor Harl's former campaign manager. He did write a few op end posts for the blog but he did NOT start this blog.
That's a little deceitful Lois. The 12:36 post above says "campaign organizer." I'm pretty sure you were an organizer for the Mayor. And early on both your name and Steve's were listed on this blog as administrators.
please post a copy of Waldorfs letter.
Lets see what he says or is this a one sided blog.
A friend got one and said it was a wonderful and very positive letter. Nothing like the last township race his opponent ran in.
When I said I set up this blog, that is exactly what I did and I also said that Steve wrote some posts and in order for him to do that I had some technical details to take care of that allowed him to do this. Maybe they called it administrater but I am well aware of what was required to put this together. End of story. Did I support Scott Harl at one time, absolutely and if in fact you would like to see the letter I wrote to friends about what an honest transparent government Scott would have, I have that too. Took me a few years to see it was all talk and nothing more and he lost probably at 95% of the initial support he had when running for election. No one expected anything but open and honest government and that did not happen. I think I could write a book on what was said before election and what actually took place afterward.
My brother received a letter from Dave too. He wondered why he would send a city business card with the letter when a campaign should be neutral grounds. He forwarded to me the letter. It's one thing to make up phony balogne comments to the people and its another to make it appear as though the city of Peru supports him by using the city of Peru's logo and city cards for his campaign.
All Dave needed to do was add to the bottom of his letter his contact information. There was no need for him to attach public funded city business cards to his letters. Besides, shouldn't his constituents already have his card or contact info? Or does he only become transparent a month before the election? I'm sure many of them tossed his contact info after he ignored them about the opposition we had about the no bid Test contract. He led that charge to ram rod through a super majority vote to not bid out a multi million dollar contract. If he was so proud about things he's done perhaps he should have included that in his letter.
I never had business cards. I was never offered business cards. Rodney told me when I was first appointed that he made his own business cards. It's not that the city bought the cards for his use as an alderman, it's the issue that he is mailing them out as part of his reelection campaign. If the city paid for them then that's using taxpayer funds for his campaign, which we all know is not allowed. The question is did he reimburse the city for them? If so, when?
I'm not even going to bother reading through this one. There is no issue here. So what - he has city business cards with his name on them and he included them in a mailer to his constituents. Big effing deal - nothing illegal. Just like Rodney parking his car at the park during the sledding event - no issue.
Time to move on to real issues.
10:35
For the amount work being done at the township couldn't Steve have used a computer there? I thought those new guys were going to clean up that type of waste!
@4:26 the difference between Rods car advertising and City Business Cards being pushed into people's homes is way different. Rod's car doesn't have city of Peru logo on it. The city of Peru logo is a city paid trade mark and to use it for re-election purposes is wrong. It was proven that Rod never used his car or pushed city business cards for re election purposes during that sled day. We all know if it was proven that Rod had city business cards setting out or pushed on residents there would've been an uproar and most likely a different outcome.
The use of the city logo on campaign advertising is clear violation and his business number on the card is unbelievable.
No matter if he paid or not it clear violation also the city doesn't pay sales tax so if Waldorf reimbursed the city did he pay the sales tax
A 1.00 is a 1.00 and the slippery slope got more slippery
Issue a censure against him and move it to states attorney and be done w it
I would challenge Alderman Waldorf to respond to this issue right here and right now whether the cost of the business cards have been reimbursed to the city and when the money was reimbursed. Simple as that, set the record straight, because if you do not, you know what impression that will give your constituents and the rest of the citizens. We all will be waiting for your reply Mr. Waldorf. Thanking you in advance.
Alderman Waldorf states he does not read the blog so you will need to call him and I hope you do.
Is Waldorf barber shop number on this card???????
Ya right Lois, I assure you they all read this blog. They just aren't courageous enough of city officials to put their name to it. They read it and post anon. Don't be fooled. I'm sure Waldorfs wife has had her two cents on here.
Oh,ok Lois thanks for the heads up about him not reading the blog. In that case I would then expect him to clear this matter up at the next council meeting. With the meetings being recorded and the News trib reporting that will be equal to him responding on your blog. After all they did question Alderman Perez at the meeting and instructed the chief to investigate. Again thanking the alderman in advance. I am sure he wants to set the record straight.
Don't believe alderman don't read this blog as much as I believe I'm going to Mars tomorrow. Why is it people don't see through liars? Wouldn't it make sense that a concerned Alderman would read this site? I guess we don't have many good alderman. LOL!
311 sorry that the facts that were presented about the previous township officials were negative but they were true and were created by the big boys who ran the township. Not one of the big boys argued they were false! If they did it would made th look like fools.
The City engineer knows how to use the program a nd needs an assistant that can do the same.
7:32 yes rhe barber shop number is on his card
Is there a need of the blog? Yes, their is.
Why is their a need? Because it affords every American citizen a opportunity to express their opinion of all actions that have been performed, are being performed and will be performed in the future.
What historically and presently enable such as the administrator, those who submit comments and those who read the blog these rights and freedoms? These rights and freedoms are supported by our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, Federal, State and city laws for the reason of protecting the individual and groups to express themselves freely and openly without prosecution.
A blog, open forum or any other form of communication would be found where their are concerned citizens who wish to express these concerns and identify the ideas of others about these concerns.
Thus you would believe their is more need of a blog where there is not Transparency. Definitely yes! For example, politically a blog exists where those who are incumbent in a political office become politicians working toward their own goals rather than representatives of their constituents. One who succeeds in holding a office which represents the populace should utilize its authority for the good of the people not to attempt to limit and overpower them.
A9:15 And how many assistants will the assistant need. It took years of effort to get a city engineer but in Peru it has become a habit that once the dam is opened every relative and friend and friend of a friend floods the place needed or not needed.
Instead of Business Cards and steak dinners - why can't we discuss real waste? For instance, the City of Peru purchases fuel from almost every gas station in town. Why doesn't the City either negotiate a lower rate with one provider or simply purchase fuel in bulk?
There are several abandoned gas stations in town that could be converted into a City fuel farm. Much more economical.
I also wonder if the City is getting back all the sales tax that is built in to the price of gasoline. The City is exempt from paying sales tax and the way gas is priced it is built directly in to the cost. Do we file paperwork to get this money back from the state?
These are the types of things I'd like to hear from our elected officials and interested citizens. Not endless rants about penny ante business cards, family fun days, and downtown flowers.
When was this bill on the disbursements?
I am not absolutely sure but I do remember seeing his name and the amount, maybe in the fall, but for sure less than a year ago.
You don't know when or how much was paid for the business cards and you still are making these accusations about paid political advertisements? That is not right.
Alderman Waldorf has a very important role as the head of the Public Works committee, why wouldn't he have business cards?
@11:42 Really? You're going to ask an ignorant question? No one has asked why he has city business cards. The question is why is he using city cards for political gain during an election. He's asking people to vote for him with those city cards. He needs to create and print campaign cards and not use city cards. I've never ever seen any past candidates ever use city cards that are intended for city business use only. Campaign handouts SHOULD NOT HAVE CITY LOGOS ON THEM!!
12:18 PM, You are absolutely correct. Using those cards in that manner is inappropriate at least, and very likely illegal at most, per the state statute that Harl, Waldorf and the other aldermen cited when they asked Bernabei to conduct an investigation of Alderman Perez.
4:58
obviously you have no clue as to what is going on at the township - particularly the roads!
12:18, 12:50 - it is not. I don't like Waldorf, but there is nothing wrong with what he did. Please move on to something useful to talk about.
The disbursements dated 10/22/14 show the purchase of alderman Waldorf's business cards at a cost of $48.
Darn! Just tried contacting the election board and no one in today. I heard Waldorf is already making calls trying to fish his way out. We all know we won't get a bias answer locally so it's best to contact the election board. I received Alderman Waldorfs letter and card on Saturday and the first impression was the city of Peru was supporting the alderman as it appeared as though it came from the "CITY DESK OF: Alderman Dave Waldorf.
I asked one I know from the city and was told they believe the council recently approved revisions of the handbook and a policy that states city owned patents etc can't be used without permission. So who gave Waldorf permission? I haven't looked into this policy yet but plan to.
non-issue - move on.
I'm adding $48 to my power bill this month just to shut the door on this.
This isn't illegal but a car with campaign signs is worth investigating? Are you people serious? You're definitely obvious. Rules in this town only apply to some individuals, not all.
2:54 - neither one is worth investigating. that is the point.
The city disbursements show a purchase for Waldorfs business cards dated October 2014 that's just three months ago. I'm sure the 250 or so that came in that order wasn't enough so he probably ordered more and paid for them out of his own pocket. Still not right as its city property. (Logo etc.) there has to be a place to check to see how he paid the city back on previous receivables?
The above post is talking like this is no big deal but 1.00 here 5.00 there, 1,000 over there adds up to hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years. So you get working on the big cost savings and some of us will continue watch dogging the 1.00 waste. After all it's all about team work. It's all important. Every 1.00 is important. As is our moral obligation to call out officials stealing from tax payers for their own personal gain to get re elected.
But 3:20 if one incident was investigating the other one should be. Don't you agree? Or are the situations different because different individuals were involved?
no - neither one should have been investigated. This is all stupid school girl crap and it needs to end now.
Amen 6:50.
According to the video Rodney did the right thing and said if you think he did something then investigate it. (Not in those words) but That's what he said. Waldorf agreed it should be investigated. Actually they all were in agreement to investigate Rodney. Will Dave W. do the right thing as Rodney did? Will Scott direct PD chief to investigate it? Will the the rest agree, it appears there is a full special council meeting this coming Wednesday which I'm sure they are hoping no one shows up to. It's open to the public so all you Peru residents should go. I'm sure if they are going to bring it up they will do it when the public isn't there.
Now that many, many voters interest has been aroused the business cards designed for the alderman and city business purposes with city logos printed on them which have been included with a campaign letter should be investigated. This card no matter who paid for it should never have been used for campaign purposes and no one remembers any other candidate ever using their city business card for such purpose.
From now to elections no city money should be utilized with the city administration and city council members listed individually thanking, congradulating etc. After elections this issue should be investigated and a ordinance made to stop it.
6:50 really? school "GIRL" crap? These are all men we're discussing here. Don't put girls down by implying this is a girls problem, when the "boys" just can't seem to play by the rules.
In change of public works department. He cuts hair, what does he know about public works? Just like the supers. Give me a break. Are they all in bed together? Joke! I bet they all get haircuts around the corner too. Kiss Kiss.
8:01, I'm talking about all the uproar over SnowGate and CardGate.
All of these comments are reminiscent of a bunch of 7th Grade Girls bickering over "he said, she said" BS.
12:23 knock off the derogatory comments about girls.
To all you people that think the business cards are a non-issue, think again. Like 7:46 stated, since an investigation was called for because of Rodney, then an investigation should be called for because of Waldorf. The huge problem in Peru is unfairness. It's all about who you are and who likes who. Talk about jr high antics!
Demand his resignation in light of the criminal offense...the mayor the can appoint someone to finish the term
The law is the law and needs to be enforced. Word at local coffee house is that waldorf is working phones to cover the tracks and is realized he stepped in large pile of you know what.
Where is the fish wrapper or rod in this case...there should be coverage now on this
Boys will be boys, real honest boys will mature to be real honest men.
8:59 - he dose not need to know anything about public works. We elect Aldermen, not commissioners.
The job of the legislative branch is to provide oversight - NOT MANAGMENT. Period, end of story, nothing more! You people need to understand that the purpose of the City Council is NOT TO MANAGE THE CITY - It is to provide general guidance and approve the budget. That is it.
I don't know how Peru got to the point that Aldermen are managing departments. It must STOP NOW!
OK 4:05 - We will call it "School BOY antics" then. Get over it!
Everyone that is demanding investigations over business cards are acting like:
1. School Girls
2. School Boys
3. Barnyard Hens
fill in the rest....
Anon 5:34 AM Surely you don't expect the daily fish wrapper to become involved in controversy or investigative issues? The most recent venture into the dark side was made when Grampa was writing on his Golden Rule tablet in grade school. This is way back when Daisy Miller took a stand against illegal gambling and it was shut down in LaSalle County. Of course at that time there was a States Attorney who knew how to enforce the law to the family's best. When you read of these times they really took down organized crime in the area. They knew the law and had the desire to see the area cleaned up and enabled to grow and progress. Yes, it has returned but who has profitted from it?
Drama drama drama
Let's grow up ppl!!!!!!
Thank you 9:44AM In a few words you have proven what many have been trying to say for several years.
When reading your job description of a councilman that their job is to provide oversight - NOT MANAGEMENT - I thought here is a person who knows what they mean and mean what they know.
Every reader of the blog should now be questioning present city representation of why we don't change our city government, why we don't have a professional city manager in charge of day to day operations , instead of as you state someone who is not elected or knowledgeable for such a task, above all why is their a need of 8 people to govern 4 wards instead of 4 at large city commissioners? In a few words you have opened so many city government questions. Thank you, Thank You, Thank You. Please comment often
Nobody will be crazy enough to ask for any investigation or will there be any resignation. The mailing was to inform residents on who and how they can make contact with their 3rd ward alderman. A card with his number and the logo that he is a city of Peru Alderman is appropriate. He has earned the City logo by his work in office for 8 years. He is the representative of the 3rd ward.
12:04, if this mailing was simply a way to inform residents about how to contact their alderman, then my question is "has Waldorf done this type of thing in the past when it's not an election year?" So he just decides the residents need to know how to contact him two months before an election? Was the letter in any way a campaign letter?
11:10, hens are females. I think you have some issues with females that need to be worked out.
103 township road had been paved. Big Joe said it wasn't the townships responsibilty. A FOIA request was submitted to the city during the last election and guess what was found! The paper work showed the township is responsible. I guess Big Joe is the fool. There are a lot of happy People in that area that Debo fixed the road. So if you think there are road issues then you should exactly come fourth as say them. I truly hate fools.
I sent an email to the city clerk's office Sunday evening and FOIA'd Alderman Waldorf's business card purchase and any reimbursement made by him for those business cards. Monday afternoon while I was at work, I got a call from Alderman Waldorf, but I was busy working, and I was unable to speak to him. When I got home in the evening, I checked my caller id at my home, and he had called my home as well, but had not left a message. I think it was inappropriate for him to call me to discuss this. A simple email would suffice.
This morning I received an email reply from the city FOIA officer stating and I quote "Alderman Waldorf ordered business cards through Apple Press for the purpose of normal city business. The cards he ordered for his mailings were delivered and billed directly to him. Do you still want the invoice from the city purchase?" That means the city paid for his business cards for his use as an alderman.
I replied that yes I still wanted the invoice and I also requested any invoices that were paid for business cards for any of the other alderman for 2014 and 2015. There were no other such invoices.
It just makes me wonder why it's ok for some purchases for the aldermen to be approved, but not when Rodney asked for reimbursement for mileage to check out the sand company. Fair is fair, and the city council needs to play fair.
1:33 Of course it was a campaign letter. Just like driving your car with a campaign sign in a park.
12:04 why is it ok to send business card to the residents of his ward with the city emblem, but it is not ok for alderman Perez to park his car with his name on it , which by the way he purchased himself. That is the issue here, really when u think about it alderman Waldorf should hav sat quietly at the meeting where Perez was taking the heat.
All silliness aside - and both issues being discussed are bordering on the very silly - there is one thing that our local government employees and elected officials can take home with them tonight.
"You are being watched. YOU work for the CITIZENS of this community, not the other way around. WE allow YOU to do things, not the other way around. If we request an explanation, you must provide it."
I don't think it's silly antics when the business cards of Waldorf with city logo was mailed by him and that's Okey dokey, and Perez ' s sign on his car was an issue at a park. Also, isn't that a bully tactic for Waldorf to make a phone call to a person's home when all the person did was request documents from the city. Find very funny. Love this forum. Thanks to all who participate.
Peeps usually hang themselves out to dry eventually when doing wrong. Isn't it called "Karma?"
Sherry,
answer the phone and maybe you would get the answer to your question. And why are you intent on going after Waldorf?
3:47 PM
Read the comment she was at work and does not take calls while working and second one, the message was on her answering machine just like it was on mine.
I never answer the phone. If you want to get ahold of me send a text or email. My friends and family have all been trained. At the same time - I don't bother other people by trying to call them either. I send a text or an email and I expect the same in response.
If you are in the 3rd ward and received one of alderman Waldorf's business cards can you tell us if it was a normal business card or did it same something like "vote for me" or "re-elect me" or something that would differentiate it from a normal city business card??
1:50 Sherry it makes me wonder why you posted this on the blog and didn't call Dave Waldorf back. How was he supposed to know to email you. You asked a question and he reached out to you. What's the problem here? Seems nice that he called you. He was your colleague on the council. This seems reasonable to me. It also seems you got your question answered and this is absolutely nothing. MOVING ON!
@4:33, someone said his card has his barber shop number on it. I think that is wrong, it's a business. The city paid for a business expense of his personal business. Let alone with city logo. WRONG.
3:47 - A FOIA is done thru the City Clerk's office. If I had wanted to speak to Waldorf, I would have called him myself. I simply asked for the invoice and if he repaid it. No need for discussion.
I'm not "going after" Waldorf. I just want a fair playing field, and we don't have that. Waldorf was vocal about having Rodney investigated for campaign fraud. If Waldorf used his business cards (that were paid for by the city) for a campaign mailing, it should be investigated. He says he ordered some separately for the mailing, so we'll have to take him for his word.
Lois, Waldorf did not leave a message on my home phone. I just saw his number on my caller id. If he would have left a message on my HOME phone, I may have called him back. But he crossed the line when he called me at work.
Some people have real jobs and need not be called at work for personal business. Some people have sensible good judgement not to interfere with calling people at their work for non business purposes. Makes me wonder if we have sensible, intelligent people making good decisions for our city. Yes, if you are reading this, you get my drift.
All I want is the mayor to have the chief do one of his investigations. No more no less. Maybe we should e mail the mayor on the ask the city web site if the business cards with the city emblem can be used at election time. Then after he reads all the e mails he can bring it up at the next city council meeting.
Can anybody trust that there is truly no other invoices for other alderman for 2014-2015, as stated in the above blog? Who is the FOIA officer??? I personally don't trust people word sometimes. Do other alderman have these business cards for city business? Should previous years be FOIA'ed to see and how transactions for their cards were? If not, why would one certain alderman want them? If all alderman have them, then that tells another story. Curiosity has me thinking. Did Ms.Mayszak have cards during her aldermadic term?
It is definitely crossing the line to call someone at work. It is evident that both Lois and Sherry are owed a apology from the caller who holding the position he occupies should know better.
Very nice to hear that Sherry has stayed in touch with Peru city business. She was a outstanding alderman who was easy to get a hold of.
No alderman should be using a business card with the city logo for specific campaign purposes.
Consider that this is a Peru alderman who would rather test the water to see how much he can get away with.
Fortunately he is up for election in April and the people will have a choice it they will continue to want this type of steward for the 3rd ward. Peru needs quality representation in each chair presently the 3rd does not in either.
Have the two ladies he has called been questioned as to their feelings about the calls and do they believe the calls could be considered friendly or where they meant as a form of intimidation and bullying?
As Mayor Harl manages his tenure as one that allows no one to cast a image that would taint it. You can be assured that he will conduct a through investigation not only of the legality of sending a card with the city logo printed on it along with a campaign letter and also the intent of these phone calls.
9:35 pm. I did not have business cards while I was on the council. Rodney told me he made his own, and I would have done the same. My point with requesting invoices for business cards from any other aldermen during 2014 to 2015, was this is the time leading up to the election and I just wanted to know if any other candidate up for reelection would have ordered business cards to use for the campaign.
Yes I trust our FOIA officer. She does her job and does it very well, under I'm sure some extremely stressful situations.
10:43 pm. Thank you for your kind comments. I stay in touch with Peru politics for several reasons. One of those reasons is bullying, pot shots and ganging up against Rodney. I will not stay quiet when that happens. Rodney and I didn't always agree on city issues, but I still respected his opinion and reasons for voting on an issue. I didn't look down at him like he was an alien with 3 heads, like one alderman always does when Rodney speaks.
Waldorf is a typical politician who uses his authority to intimidate as he has done to other citizens in the past. I know of two who were aggressively confronted and shamed by him for questioning the No Bid Test contract, I read on here about a confrontation with residents about basement flooding out in the city hall parking lot, and this little lady who told several of us she was at the airport pancake breakfast and asked Waldorf a question about taking care of an ongoing issue she was having about a neighbors dog and Waldorf told her several times to leave and not bother him because he was working the breakfast. Hmmm.
I see a pattern of aggression and perhaps an anger management class would help.
Dirty politicians understand how the FOIA system works and dirty politicians don't put anything in writing or voice recordings so I'm sure that is why Waldorf never e mailed or left a voice message for Sherry because of evidence of intimidation. Waldorf hasn't earned any special privledges to use city cards and logos for campaigning. That belongs to the city not a candidate.
Please somebody get Sherry some business cards. 6:38 REPLY
6:42 call your neighbor about Fido. Why would you expect Waldorf to get rid of the neighborhood dog? He like dogs, small children, older people, and pancakes.
And why would anyone look at Rodney like a alien with 3 heads?

i guess you dont like yourself very much if you dont like fools!
Many professionals have given up on passing out business cards. They usually end up in the trash fifteen minutes after the meeting. I prefer an e-Card which automatically updates my cell phone and email contact list. In my opinion - passing out a paper card shows that you are old fashioned and behind the times technologically. Which - I guess - adequately describes Mr. Waldorf.
10:51 AM - a barking dog - that is something an alderman is supposed to handle. Or at least guide the resident to somebody who is willing to help.
It's the 3rd Ward alderman who looks at Rodney like he has 3 heads - get it??
I don't think sherry needs business cards since she got beat by a guy who gave his word he wouldn't run against her. So much for his word!
Anon 10:51 AM:
Sherry has not had anything to do with the creation of the city card with a printed logo used for a private city political campaign.
all realize what the real issue is and who has misused the City of Peru cards.
Ms. Mayszak was a alder-person for the City of Peru who accepted the position with complete honesty and left the position with complete honesty and added respect , still today being one of its outstanding volunteers.
Both 3rd ward aldermen plus some other aldermen look at everyone, not only Rodney Perez, like they have 3 heads. The looks are not nearly as disgraceful as some of the open, verbal displays they have attacked citizens with. These verbal attacks which have taken place in council meetings
and the parking lot of city hall have resulted in a complete loss of respect and trust of certain city officials. The feelings of many, those who witnessed these acts and those who have been told of this behavior have come to the conclusion that the city would be a better place without them in representation.
2:14, we will see In the upcoming election!
@2:29 2:14 here, can't wait. The election cannot get here fast enough. New faces, original bright ideas, financial understanding, true representation of the people. WOW! Captain America. In with the new, out with the old.
Sherry is referred to as a alder-person simply because of the quality of some of those who are called alderman make the word an insult to good representation.
Sherry Mayszak is a strong courageous woman leader who I wish was still representing the city. We need more representatives who stand for the people and not dirty government.
There was a meeting last night does anyone know if the mayor called for an investigation of allegations against Dave Waldorf for MIS-use of public funds for his campaign?
10:22 I totally agree with you in regards to Sherry, and her representing the city. She did stand for the people, and not just the people in her ward, but for all the citizens of Peru. And for that I thank her.
@10:22 am I have heard nothing and the paper does not have anything in it about a investigation of the barber. He knows his position in life as it is in politics is to follow not lead. The only reason he runs for alderman is the pay, he appears to have no interest in the city and is nothing but a echo of Chamlin and TEST. Thankfully he has strong opposition in the upcoming race for alderman.
7:29, that's because there has to be an investigation to report evidently there is no investigation going on except on the blog.
Why doesn't mayor Harl ask police chief for an investigation like he did pertaining to family fun days 10:14? What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Transparency. Plat fair.
Totally agree with you 11:13. The mayor should openly report what happened and ask chief Bernabei to investigate as he did with alderman Perez. This should all take place at Monday's council meeting. Will it happen? Probably not because in this town it depends on who you are or who you're connected to or if you're one of them.
anon 1:27 I think it will happen for all the same reasons that it should happen. Mayor Harl will want all doubt of dishonesty removed from his administration. Alderman Waldorf most likely will make a motion to investigate his reported actions to enter the upcoming elections campaign and election with a unblemished recent record.
10:49 Feb. 20th That idea would make for an excellent campaign strategy. I wouldn't doubt that you just might have hit the nail on the head. I'll bet that's what alderman Waldorf was instructed to do to make himself look good and get some extra free campaign strategy.
10:49 I am not quite sure that extra free campaign strategy is exactly what Waldorf is presently looking for. By now he should have realized that the campaign card with the city logo on it backfired, he's not that stupid!
Lasalle ' s mayor on city letter head in a letter recently send out with water bills actually had the mayors cell phone number on it. A friend sent me a copy via email. No alderman names or phone numbers listed. Not afraid to talk to people. Transparency. Thought this was great.
