Peru’s water may look like milk during hydrant flushing

Peru’s water may look like milk during hydrant flushing

If I understand this correctly all of Peru may experience "awful" water for the rest of the summer.  You will get NO warnings.  Ok our water turned to "crap" yesterday, rusty, milky and I will certainly not drink anything that looks like that. Who in the city knows when water is safe to drink?  Is Test testing this every day?  OK, so the Water Store should be doubling or tripling their business like now.  To be honest I never drink Peru water and have not for many many years but I at least want to be able to rinse my fruit and veggies in the water, well so ends that.

Who determined that our water was safe to drink? Mr. King or is Test constantly checking samples in different parts of town? I don't understand why all of our surrounding towns occasionally have to issue a boil order but we never seem to have to (EVEN WHEN OUR WATER LOOKS LIKE CRAP)? And we're mapping our fire hydrants now so the fire department knows where they are??? We haven't known where they are all these years??? And why would flushing a fire hydrant at the west end of town affect those on the east end? And why is it going to take all summer???

You are absolutely ridiculous. Boil orders are required for water main breaks and if you haven't had a boil order its because there has not been a water main break. If you read the article it explains everything. They city just made it easier for you to find something to complain about. Our water is the best in the area.

Well if it's true that one of the leaders on the fire department can't pass his state test to be a fireman , maybe they can't tell what a fire hydrant looks like . King isn't qualified to run that Department let alone tell brown water from clear water .

Peru has water main breaks on a weekly basis at some times and there have been times when there was more than one in a week. The guys are busy taking care of the breaks but the administration does not believe in notifiying people to boil the water after the repair. At one time it is true Peru had the best water around here but that is no longer true. Our water has been cloudy looking for 3 days now which leads us to believe something else is going on. Running the water the smell from chlorine is awful and certainly not good for drinking. Our good water is a used to be thing. The city knows this too.

Are you serious? Peru has never had a water main break? You must live in a fantasy world?

There was a major break on Shooting Park and Pulaski this week I didn't hear of any notices.

Heard that Robbie Novak once again put on a fabulous fireworks show for LaSalle's celebration. No breaks, no stalls, just constant fireworks. Short and sweet but spectacular.

Does anyone know what's going on with the splash pad progress? It seems as though it's at a standstill. Haven't seen any work going on at the site. Any answers? Just curious!

I suggest that adults are not to be in splash pad unless they are with a child. What is the thought on amount to charge for daily admission.
Daily admission should be high and season passes should be low.

NO! It's not hearsay. It's fact.

I did say if someone has not received a boil order in Peru it means it was not required based on their proximity to a water main break. They issue boil orders when necessary and go directly to residents doors to notify them when it starts and ends.

There is a new article out about the water quoting the president of TEST. He said the cause of the cloudiness is OXYGEN!

Also-I believe it has been stated splash pad admission will be free. May have changed but that is what I heard.

Before everyone goes running around spreading information that is untrue you should fact check first.

There is also a water report from TEST on the website. Dentists actually recommend drinking tap water for the fluoride. I took my children recently and she asked if they drink the tap water and when I said yes she responded "good".

A splash pad has open access and does not charge a fee, very similar to a playground. A splash pad connected to a waterpark is a different feature. Peru is building a splash pad in a park atmosphere.

And 7:56 I have been to splash pads that are in park atmospheres and they did charge a fee to enter.

No need for the water uproar. We all understand that the system is being worked on and the cloudy water is temporary. Much to do about nothing. Please don't jump out a window or create hysteria. It's ok.

I have noticed that Peru very seldom has boil orders. The reason is because they seldom need boil orders. Keep up the good work Peru!

11:40 I think you need to be corrected. Just because we seldom announce boil orders doesn't mean we don't issue them. Apparently we hang notices on front doors. I wonder how many residents miss these notices because most people now-a-days enter their homes through their garages. Why is Peru afraid to have our local radio station announce our breaks and boil orders like all our surrounding towns do? What is so special about Peru water that it doesn't need to be boiled after major breaks?
