Thanks Lois. I am thankful for your efforts to keep the people of Peru informed of the back-room shenanigans continuously perpetrated on the honest citizens of Peru. There is no other forum as readily available to expose Peru's phony elected and appointed officials for what they are. So Happy Thanksgiving to all the honest and ethical folks of Peru and the Illinois Valley. I know who many of these good folks are and it's sad to say I also know of many who are NOT.

11:31 AM You have made a comment, one in which I do not completely agree with. I disagree with your description of Peru's elected as being phony. As for some of the appointed officials I also believe them to be phony and their appointments as the major failure of the present administration and council. But I find that you have made full and complete comment.

2:43 PM I find that your answer to 11:31 is no more than a rude,
insulting remark without any thought or addition to the blog.

To the author of the blog, it seems that every so often a 2:43 PM appears. The ability to censure is solely yours when you believe needed.

11:31 What have you exposed?

To 9:35 PM, You claim to be in agreement with the observation that describes Peru's "appointed" officials as phony as 11:31 AM points out. Here is a point to consider. Since it is Peru's elected officials who are responsible for approving the appointments and essentially "enabling" the phony appointed officials to maintain their excessive salaries without possessing any of the real skills, experience, or professional expertise that legitimate professionals are required to have in honest and ethical communities. Therefore we must put the blame squarely where it lies for all of the "phony" political appointments made by Peru's council that plague our city. That blame belongs to the phony elected officials of Peru who plan, devise, and carry out the dishonest and unethical assault on the good people of Peru as described by 11:31 AM.

Really the blame lies with the voters of Peru. They voted in the elected officials who continue to award no bid contracts and political appointments.

no... Peru officials are truly Phony.

11:03. Not to worry. The demographics are shifting. The narcissistic Baby Boomers are fading into history. Another 20 years and their influence will all but be gone. Unfortunately, so will Peru.

Twenty years from now:

1. The retail district will be a shell. Mostly empty buildings with some discount retailers.
2. The Mall will not exist. It will be an concrete lot. In the summer there will be flee markets and swap meets.
3. The industrial river front will be shut down. Moved down river to take advantage of more favorable taxes and a younger work force that is not tied to unionism.
4. Peru Public Schools will be housed in the current Park Side building. The Northeview facility will be shut down due to lack of school age population.
5. IVCH will be shut down. The nearest hospital will be in Ottawa.
6. The fire department and police department will be housed near the former electric plant and public works monolith. Home owners insurance rates will skyrocket due to the distance between the fire station and the residential parts of town.
7. The electric department will be closed. All assets sold to Ameren.
8. There will be a public swimming pool paid for with a $25 million bond. Harl's last ditch attempt to buy votes. The pool will loose money hand over fist.
9. Andy Skoogs will be the new Mayor, having been booted out of Springfield and moving to Peru.
10. Barnaby Jones will be the City Administrator with a $500K salary and city car with driver.

Barnaby Jones is Peru's present city adm. now only under the title of ASM. There is nothing that happens in Peru that does not go through him. He runs this city. At least this is what he told a good friend of mine. Sadly I agree with this and from the many losses Peru is not seeing that Spring Valley did we'll have him and his $125,000 and more price tag for a long time.
