Not really convinced, especially as it seems that everything revolves around the area north of Rte 80 and wonder how much the average Peru resident spends time there. Personally it is usually no more than a quick trip to Walmart for things not found elsewhere. A trip to the Mall recently found a very quiet interior and the busiest area was the children in the play area near J.C. Penny's. On the plus side, I am finding residential areas very quiet and not too much traffic or noise and we are close enough to other communities for activities.

Why does every aspect of every freakin thing the Peru phony officials do have to be so damn scripted? The ridiculous newspaper acts as the city's amateurish marketing company when the city needs to promote another of their phony ventures that will invariably involve spending millions of our taxpayer dollars. In this case they want to "prime the public" by showing us the deplorable condition of the abandoned hotel that we the taxpayers are responsible for. This is the typical roundabout way the mayor and council use to notify the citizens of Peru that the sweetheart deal the Peru bigshots thought they had with the developer had blown up in their faces. The developer obviously realized the city was playing them for fools just as they do with the citizens of Peru. The phonies at 4th & Fulton are the absent owners and caretakers of an abandoned, dangerous, and crumbling montrosity that stands as a monument to their delusions of grandeur they have of themselves. The reason they arranged for the advertising piece in the paper and the phony video tour is to prepare the folks for the upcoming announcement of what it's going to cost us to demolish the "Red Herring Hotel" since they can't find a Sucker, I mean a Developer stupid enough to take the responsibility and the cost of taking this disaster off the hands of the people of Peru. Peru's mayor and aldermen own this mess and the danger and liability itm places on the good citizens of Peru. They are gearing up to tell us soon how much cash it will take to dig us out of the hole the Peru phonies have gotten us in to. How many millions will it take and how will Harl, Vickrey, and other Peru insiders use the situation to help themselves and their friends. There is great opportunity here for some special deals to be cut.

I've seen five or six new black sport utility vehicles driven by men and women in suits all over Spring Valley in the last few days.

Any word out there yet as to applicants or candidates for 1st ward alderman?
News Tribune online shows the name of 4 candidates for the 1st ward alderman position. As far as I know, only 1 of those candidates ever goes to a meeting. Why are the other 3 even interested?
