Peru Playground

Do you really want children playing in a construction zone?

Why are you trying so hard to find something to complain about?!

Anonymous said...

You are aware that this is a construction site, right?

It's plain as day that the playground is in a construction area and not safely to be used. Why the uproar? There are many other playgrounds located in every other park.

8:28, 10:01 and 10:38 What is wrong with you people. The blogger has simply posted pictures of some of the nicest playground equipment Peru has, revealing to you that it is located in a dangerous construction area site, and that there are no secure means of keeping children out. There is no complaining (other than by you 8:28) and no uproaring (other than by you 10:38). Quit analyzing posts. You're doing a very bad job.

When were the pictures taken? After the storms and wind last which could have blown the fence down?

While there were workers present and they needed the fence down to get to the area?

There is clearly caution tape up. And the blogger did not "simply post pictures". There was a previous post made in regards to the same thing.

Another person, who I am sure is also on this blog, has made facebook posts about this area and claiming no work was being done. All false claims.

I feel like this is so similar to issues we deal with in regards to our President. "Fake News" and spreading information that is not factual.

Pictures were taken yesterday.

How do you spell liability? If any child was injured on that present setup with no current care being taken as to the playground equipment or the grounds, we all know what the next step by the injured individual would be. The entrance is open and there is a picture that clealy shows easy access to the playground.

There was a comment made by someone earlier on another post that spoke to the swings at Veterans Park that are located next to the cornfield. I have not seen them.

Has the city had a conversation with our insurance company or city atty? If they give approval to the current as is set up manner in which the childrens playground equipment is being left out in the open while construction equip. is nearby, then I guess the city is being legally protected. Personally I think that if you make something appealing to children it could be considered a hazard, it is a liabilty. Any injury to a child on city property that is not being maintained or secured and signs not posted and entrance barred to entry could be an issue.

Kind of like on the Starved Rock Trails where signs are posted every so often about Stay on the Trail.= warnings.

Of course I could be wrong about all of this also.

If you were truly concerned about the safety of children, then you should contact the contractor or the city. No one wants anything unsafe for kids and no one is doing so intentionally. For the time it took to take and post these pictures you could have made a phone call and maybe saved a child from getting hurt. Just a thought.

Also, regarding the posts on FB that a person claims credit for getting the grass mowed because he complained, it would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. There was a delay with construction so the construction company walked away during the delay and the grass grew. This happens on larger construction projects all of the time. They didn't just mow the grass they have continued full speed ahead with the splash pad. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Some people are absolutely delusional.

Looks like this will be a nice new park once the construction is finished.

The last time I called the city with an issue and requested a phone call back, well I am still waiting.

10:33 good reason not to call back then I guess. Clearly child safety was not your concern. Obviously you despise the city and most everyone affiliated with it. The one sure way to not fix something is posting about it. Funny thing is when I talk to "the city" I get a pretty positive and friendly response. I am sure it is just because of "who I am", which is no one other than a person who is also positive an friendly.

It is quite evident you don't know anything about me or my character, my family or my education and work experiences and family life. Very sad to make judgement calls based on someone you don't know. You are evidently someone who has connections within the confines of City Hall.

What department did you call and who were you waiting to hear back from? Was it something you needed to be called back for?

Is it a citizens job to tell the city that a construction sight they are working on could be presenting a danger to children? Shouldn't city officials be on top of all their projects making sure everything is being done safely and properly? 11:31 you report yourself as a positive and friendly person. I disagree with you because what you posted about another citizen is negative, hurtful, and spiteful. Do you even know who 10:33 is and what he/she is like? Why do you say child safety was not a concern of the blogger? What other reason would he/she post pictures of playground equipment that is obviously located at a city construction site and a possible danger to children?

The question is why did all the Construction equipment leave and leave his sight looking so disgusting? Noone from the city drives by this ? Where is our code enforcement guy? Our overpaid uneducated fire chief/building inspector/code enforcement guy/public works superintendent/electical superintendent/con man/ womanizer/ alcoholic??

Lois, I find it funny that anyone that questions you about a post or statement you have made. You automatically ASSUME they are an insider for the city.
I know who you are and your family history and you are no different than a thousand other people living in the Illinois Valley.

You have taken out of context the answer that I gave to someone who insinuated that reasons for posting the photos were not what I claimed. He was wrong and both of you might have had some legitimacy if you like me had put your name at the end of your post or at the begining, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that you feel it is right to hide behind the door and make comments about me.

Anyone who feels unjustly criticized has the same right and opportunity to make your comment and sign your name but that won't happen because you enjoy your anon criticism.

Peru, Illinois a city of 10K, 6K of these being 21 and older with each of the 6K having a opinion. Hopefully the opinion of the majority of this 6K is what is utilized to determine the end results of matters which at the time and in the future best direct and serve us.
Normally a individual or small group of individuals are the instigators of informing the majority that a opinion is in need. This is why society needs individuals to self express their thoughts, to create their own blogs and contribute their own opinions whether popular or unpopular but always respected. It is also why the owner of the blog must be intelligent and open minded enough to accept and publish with respect the opinion of others no matter if agreed or disagreed to.
Anyone who has to take something out of context or pick and choose parts of a comment of others to prove a falsehood of their own is not deserving of being published nor should someone insult and/or belittle anyone or anyone's family. RESPECT is a short 7 letter word when combined with fair and good judgement plus common sense and open and accepted expression of all will normally direct us to the correct path of success. This is what Peru, Illinois deserves and should receive within its historic past, its developing present and its foreseeable bright future.

Would someone, anyone explain what significance the family history of a individual has to do with the individual? Please do not answer with "you can't plant potatoes and get tomatoes" or "the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree". What is the family history of Abe Lincoln, Mother Theresa or Fidel Castro?

Lois
I do enjoy the anon on this blog because, this blog normally has nothing but anger and misinformation.
And My comment was that you are just like anyone else in the IV. No disrespect towards you just a general comment.

Sometimes, it is hard to hear the truth.
If you were not born and raised in the IV it is very hard to be considered a local. Even after you have been here for years.

I know many good families that moved here and were treated horribly because they wanted to get involved and were shunned by residents who were to narrow minded to kind and welcoming.
