Core Municipal Values

Excellence and quality in the delivery of services

Fiscal Responsibility

Ethics and Integrity

Respecting residents as owners

Open & Honest Communications

Professionalism

Visionary leadership and planning

I came across this list in another Midwestern city and it sounded like something we would envision for our city.

Wonderful values for any branch of government.

I saw on facebook today that the City of Peru, Illinois Offices are now saying Peru Pride for Country Kids Produce and thanking them for making Peru the place they do business. So are they going to do that for all the businesses in Peru?

you know, unless it is a daily necessity, I don't buy much stuff in Peru anymore. I can usually find what I need on-line. Even with shipping charges it is cheaper than paying the sales tax around here. Granted, you need to be careful and buy the stuff from companies that don't have a presence in Illinois. But anyway, I just don't like to pay more than I have to, and usually, the selection is better on-line than what is available at Peru Retail stores.

7:02, I noticed that too. Thought it was a little odd for a city run page and a little out of line. So many good businesses in this town. Wonder if the others will get free marketing too? I wonder what the connection is between the Country Kids and the City.

Better check the old Harl War Chest Report.... for some reason, COMCAST Corporation decided to give him $250. Is the franchise up for a vote again? Or course, every union, contractor, and vendor associated with the city also kicked in. Old Boss Harl now has $51,844.60 to defeat anyone that attempts to clean up Peru.

I can't get the city web pages to download so they can be useful.
The vertical center of the page is covered. The aldermanic page is one such example.

Is this just my problem ?

Visionary leadership and planning...not something Peru has going for itself.

Look at the Mayor Push to close the TWP....he just wants more money for the city...BOSS HOG is looking to capture more tax money than ever.

When he sits on his personal golden throne he thinks up these stupid ideas. He can ask the voters if they think he should have his own crapper too.

The city is getting involved in too much and their hands in too many pockets

You have to be kidding me the consolidation of the township is a great move.
First it will lower your tax bill unless you are one of those who are sucking off the system.
Second all of the services provided by the township can be done by the city again saving money.
I'm going out on a limb here you must be a Mike Madigan fan.

We need a farmers market in Peru. Centennial Park would be a great place for it.

7:55 AM, July 12, 2016 - I have a $10 bill in my pocket that says when the township goes away - the overall tax bill will stay the same and continue to increase.

Government NEVER takes less - only more. The only thing consolidation will accomplish is reducing the number of governments that are taking our money.

Farmer's Markets are bad for connected businesses.

11:33 am you are correct and the city council knows it too

I'm not sure if this can go here but, what is with Mitchell saying the consolidation is a Madican political move.
He doesn't understand it is the Governor pushing this.

I thought it strange that he said Madigan was pushing consolidation. If anything, the King of Illinois wants to add more local governments in order to let the Democrats "create jobs." Up North, in the County of Crook - Township Jobs are "no-show." Meaning the only time a Township "employee" shows up to work is on pay day. We have billions of dollars being flushed down the collective toiles of the State of Illinois. And it is ALL MADIGAN'S doing.

And now it turns out that Michael Madigan controls the Illinois Courts. Madigan and his fully paid for judge have blocked the fair map amendments, thus assuring his continued control of the Peoples Republic of Illinois.

I always vote to "not retain" judges. I think they are just as crooked as the local politicians.

348 he said both parties are kicking the can down the road. Remember News reporting today isn't like it was 40 years ago. Reporters love to pick and choose to make a story. He then went on and said special interest groups, lobbyist, and many politicians still continue to be self concerning. He then said it is well known Mr Harl is part of the Madigans machine.
In other words he means the whole situation is purely political. No taxpayer savings will be done by dissolving the township. Harl shot is mouth off before getting the facts.

1012 the last two bills on consolidation were introduced by Madigans Chicago people. Both bills passed the Senate.

Nice try, 609. I know for a fact that you're making that up. Stop with the silly partisan politics. This has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats. The city of Peru isnt trying to do anything wrong. All the criticism about the extra layers of government and then they try to consolidate and you criticize it. It just goes to show that you can't look at right or wrong. All you can follow is your stupid party lines and talking point absent of an independent thought.

Can't believe the head dude at the college makes 190k per year. I guess that why our taxes are so high. I wonder what his retirement will be at the taxpayer expenses. Harl you know that's over a third of the Peru Township Budget.
