I wonder if the people who govern Peru have a clue about what is actually taking place in this entire state.  Peru is not immune.

Perhaps we should be acting more like squirrels and putting away funds for a rainy day that might be just around the corner.

I suspect that Peru's population will be back below 10,000 by the time of the next census. We had a momentary uptick due to the construction of the Retirement Villas.

Don't worry. Obama and the little dancing boy Rahm are brining in about 50,000 Syrians.

YOU POST THIS SHIT!!!! DISPARAGING A PRESIDENT, MAYOR,AND AN ENTIRE RACE OF PEOPLE, BUT WILL NOT POST ANY DEROGATORY REMARKS AGAINST YOU OR THE OTHER IDIOTS THAT WRITE THIS SHIT!

GOOD WORK. THIS IS WHY YOU HAVE ZERO AND I MEAN ZERO CREDABILITY WITHIN THIS COMMUNITY

Why so angry? I understand that only your judgements and opinions are right and everyone else is an idiot. You don't believe in the Constitution and Bill of Rights? Are you enjoying the benefits of living in a free country? Looking forward to your answers.

11:49 - lay off the coffee after 10:00 AM. It makes you tense.

It is true that Obama is arranging for many refugees from Syria to come to the US and that Illinois will probably have the largest number of them. The exact numbers and distribution are not known yet. However, it will probably be based states that need a boost in Democrat Party voters.

11:49 this blog has more credibility than you'll ever know. I know that the city people read this and I know things get addressed because of this blog.

I moved out of Peru little over two years ago. Could not be happier. The state is a total joke and this blog is certainly part of the joke.

The low levels of education, the lack of jobs, and the way stupidity is on broadcast here just shows how dumb Illinois and the Illinois Valley really is.

If its not sponsored by Miller Lite or you cant sell 50/50 tickets well no way. The IV is know for dumb, drunk, heroin, and uneducated people who think they are better than everyone because they are from "here" and uneducated. Well guess what? Nobody wants to be there anymore you dumb hicks so have fun with more bars, more video gaming machines, no jobs, and more heroin overdoses you can have it. Bye

1:06, I disagree with you on every point you make, just look at how the elections turn out.

Anonymous said...

Yes 2:22, 35% of the voters want Harl to be Mayor of Peru. He can't pull that trick again.

This is 1:06. I'm not saying anything about the elections. I'm only stating that the city officials read the comments on this blog and items get addressed because of the comments. I know that for fact.

2:18 Close your eyes and then open them! The problems that you listed are happening all over the country. Its a fact. We have disregard for the simple commandments, we have turned our constitution to mean what ever we want, we have put our pleasures ahead of the good of the country. Our social system is broke, our values are corrupt, our politics is broken. When you have political parties buying candidates and PACS and lobbyist controlling the political parties and candidates you have trouble. Its national, Its regional and its now local.
Why the unemployment or underemployment. You could blame it on world trade issues. Our government pressured by big business wanted the USA to open are policies. We have and guess what we don't get the return.
Why the tax structure is so impossible that we can't keep a balanced budget and have the corporate welfare system of off-shore taxation.
Why the drug problem. Policies of US aid to those same countries that are running the drugs. We turn a blind eye to keep the natives happy.
Gambling is the best we can do for increasing the welfare system. We continue to promote gambling and teach every kid that the next winner is the next button push. Forget going to work.
Its not about lack of education as you so described, the Illinois Valley has plenty of highly educated people. Its about the social compass that nobody talks about.

The problem is that we have a segment of society that believes government is the solution to all problems. This same segment of society views government as a career path - be it through the bureaucracy or through elected offices.

"Skoogy Do" has hit the trail running. He has opened up his campaign fund and he has taken his first installment from organized labor

"Chicago Land Operators Joint Labor Management PAC" - $6,000. Well friends, you would be well not to believe that Andy Skoog will work for the people of the 76th district. He will be working for Michael Madigan and the Chicago Democrat Party.

Such a shame that he sold out so early and so easily.

Anonymous said...

That PAC is Local 150. This puts Skoogs squarely in the pocket of the Chicago Cabal.

I hope the Republican candidates come to some form of agreement. We need to start the battle cry "Anyone But Skoogs!"

Heck, I'd vote for Bobby V. over this guy.

Anonymous said...

Well, you can bet that if they have a "D" after their name and they come from LaSalle County they can be bought easily. Might as well start the battle cry "Anyone but Towne!" also.

Did any of you believe that the Skoog a Roo wouldn't hide behind the union label? He will have $100,000 very soon and will need more. The republicans and Bruce will go after this open seat very hard, they will finally have ample funds to challenge. After the money is equal you are then looking at the candidate and what they offer. Skoog has very little ability or experience to show, he's a shallow Hal. The republican is battle ready and well versed from the Ottawa Times interviews. There will be about a dozen potential seats for the republicans to pick up and with Bruce's billions, the stale state of affairs and a low profile candidate this 76th district is gone. You may see some of the money going to the truck driver from Streator, he is republican but also has a good background for labor. The Democrats may just give Skoogie a token support. The party should have got a experienced Mayor from Peru to run the blue flag, they might have had a chance. I do feel bad the Skoogie has a good political job as Circuit Clerk and now will be out of that job and have the shortest term in history of the House. He won't even have time to install the bar and grill in Frank Mautino's former office. Last, does anyone think that Mike Madigan will actually have time for a conversation with Skoogie Do? Will that be good for our area?

Anonymous said...

"Skoogy Do" can't be the sharpest tool in the shed. He is giving up a "no show" job with the county that has a decent salary and full benefits. The job is his for life if he wants it - very rarely is the incumbent unseated for Circuit Clerk or even County Clerk.

Now he is going to have to stand for "re-election" in 2016. It is almost guaranteed that whoever the Republicans run will take the seat. I sure hope his bar business is doing good - because he will only be in the house for a few months. And thus will end the political career of "Skoogy Do" the Bartender from Utica.

Anyone But Skoogs!
Anyone But Towne!
Anyone But Hillary!

I'm thinking that maybe, if we all put in some money, we could get someone from Southern Illinois to come up here and run for State Rep.

Anonymous said...

1:28, we would do better to get somebody from Indiana to run. But you are right. I would certainly not vote for anyone from the LaSalle-Peru area.

Anonymous said...

you are on to a good idea 2:48. Instead of citizens moving away - why don't we do something to encourage out of state politician to move in. Even Democrats from Indiana are better.

Anonymous said...

Jerry "Huey" Long is running for rep. for the 76th district. He has Long ties to running the State of Louisiana. That is a southern state!

Anonymous said...

8:49, that is indeed funny. However, we already have our Huey P. Long. His name is Michael Madigan. Oh wait, my apologies to the Huey's family. He was nowhere near as corrupt as the Madigan's are.

No More Madigan!
No More Skoogs!
Mo More Towne!
No More Hillary!

Anybody but a Democrat (Communist) in 2016!

So let me get this strait. You want to pool your money and bring someone up from southern IL to be your puppet.
Correct, you know how STUPID you sound, I want you to do that so both of you can become wards of the state.

3:00 PM. actually, I want a bunch of somebodies from out of state to come here and fix Illinois. That is the only way to get it done. Way to much corruption in our political class. The disease has gone beyond antibiotics. We need to start amputating.

My god man.. look at our local politicians. Not a single sharp tool in the shed. And they are like coyotes. If somebody comes in and tries to change things for the better, they gang up and eat them alive. I think the only way to fix the problem is wholesale replacement of everyone of them. If they hold or have held any elected position we need to vote against them - at least for one cycle. Clean house. I don't care if we toss the baby out with the bathwater. Sacrifices have to be made. The only problem is that any good people won't dirty themselves in our local cesspool of politics. So I guess we really are just stuck with whatever floats to the top of that cesspool. Skoogs, Hicks, Harl, Waldorf, etc.

Stick to the green Kool-Aid, its not so hard on your memory cells.
I am very curious on what these people have done to you?

Anonymous said...

6:42 I bet you have some good honest hardworking people who want to be involved in office? They just can't get elected. It must be called the disease called Democracy. Please take the comment test.

Are you taking medication? Illegally?

Another post, followed by the stupidest comments. People like 6:42 who don't believe in a representative republic. They want someone from the outside to come in, too stupid to realize that you just fix what you don't like at the ballot box. You need your freaking head examined. Sick.
