Everyone be sure to thank Mr. Madigan, Mr. Mautino, and the Illinois Democrat Party.

Anon 1:09 AM You have forgotten to include the Republican Party for being so weak for so many, many years and never knowing how to obtain electable candidates or anyone to combat someone as politically brilliant as Mike Madigan. There is no political party which achieves the power that the Democratic Party has in Illinois without sizable help from the other part, in this case the Republicans.
Another example would be the Daley's in Chicago. Do you think that these people achieve their power because they are stupid or dumber than the opposing party? They organize all that they become in contact with. Scott Harl has similar characteristics on a smaller scale and if wanted will be a long term Mayor.

9:09, the Illinois Democrat Party achieved power through corruption of labor unions, rigged contracts, kickbacks and payola.

It could have been the Republican party that did this just as easy. But it turned out to be the Democrats. Criminals infiltrated the political system and went about rigging everything. With the exception of trafficking in drugs, prostitution, and bootleg alcohol, they operated much like an organized crime syndicate. Even now, they are inching their way toward legalized marijuana. They already have gambling.

The political class in Illinois is just an extension of the mafia. They call themselves "public servants" just like Al Capone called himself a business man. The Chicago Political Machine is like a giant octopus with tentacles reaching all the way down to Cairo.

Big news for Peru coming from Springfield very soon. A certain Boss was seen in Princeton recently. and Jerry Hicks was seen meeting with Bureau County Democrats.

I also heard that Bobby V. is contemplating a move. Sounds like the new business is not all its "Wacked Up" to be. Remember, the council can appoint anyone to be the Mayor if the Mayor quits. But I also heard that Bobby V. might be looking at the new Czar job.

Your pipeline may be the funniest joke we heard for a long time. Bobby V would be worst than Harl.

does anyone know when we can expect the management recommendation from the committee to be posted on the city web page?

"Just as adults are migrating to states with better business climates, so too are new high school graduates.

In 2013, 40 percent of new Illinois high school graduates who chose to attend public four-year universities went out of state.

And many may never return to live in the Land of Lincoln."

The recommendation of the City Administrator position and reasons why were announced by representation of the task force team at the last city council meeting. Packets were distributed to the council members and Mayor Harl determined that further action should not be carried out until the next council meeting so that the council could have ample time to study the determinations of the task force.
All city officials deserve a compliment as this was possibly the best meeting conducted and attended by all. Many have been critical of Mayor Harl for limiting vocal expression in council meetings and not allowing unnecessary interruptions. In the meeting prior to the council meeting and also in the council meeting he presented a very relaxed and open environment for those interested to express themselves.
Surprisingly those who failed to express themselves during the meeting gathered to voice their opinions with each other after the meeting. Isn't this similar to their long standing complaint of the
the members of the council enjoying a few moments of sociability after the meeting?

9:11, thanks for the input "W".

The task force recommendation was made at the committee meeting before the regular council meeting. Nothing else was brought up during the regular council meeting about it except that the council would review the task force's findings and discuss it at another meeting. Watch the council meeting video. If people don't attend the committee meeting before the regular council meeting, they will know and hear nothing, just like the council wants it.

10:47 - why don't they publish the report so other people can read it?

9;11 Did those people who gathered after the meeting go to the local bar as do the members of the council? Can you explain why the recommendations were not given to the council 2 or 3 weeks ago when they were completed? Or why they weren't given to the council members over the weekend when it was placed on the agenda? If this had been done it could have been discussed at the Monday meeting when you had 2 of the task force members present.

To 9:11 am, Please stop with the lame defense of corrupt officials like Scott Harl and most of the Peru elected and appointed officials. This Task Force scam has dragged out long enough to expose Harl as nothing more than a sneaky behind the scenes "fixer" manipulating and cheating the honest citizens of Peru and denying them an open and honest process in each and every issue of importance. You are nothing more than an "apologist" for corrupt politicians or possibly even a corrupt politician yourself. Shame!

11:03 Since the report has been received and placed on file, I believe it is now available to FOIA. I suggest you do that.

FOIA my Behind! They should just post it on the web page.

To All:

Whenever calling an individual or group corrupt, or identifying a group of highly qualified unpaid volunteers who have accepted a mission of extreme importance, as being nothing more than a tool utilized by a sneaky behind the scenes "fixer" manipulating and cheating the honest citizens of Peru, then all you are doing is name calling and not keeping the door open for a resolution of the situation. Would you like to be called a name and more importantly a name by a person who will not even identify themselves.

When in the act of accusing anyone of such procedures you do owe them the respect of at least knowing your name. Presently with the increase of comments that include grade school name calling and unsigned personal accusations, it may be a good idea for the blog to require a name on all comments.

In response to Anon 12:11 and anyone else who makes similar comments, "Are you aware that you possibly are making it difficult to gather volunteer groups to assist in the politics of Peru."
Possibly your knowledge, interest and background is such that you would be a welcome addition in some form to local politics. Seriously, please give it a thought, if you are not interested in an elected position there are many other opportunities in which you can offer your services.

In conclusion I express my appreciation to those who I know always end their comments with their name. They make the "check" valid by signing their name and prove there is a real need for a blog.

Good point Art. But I happen to be of the opinion that many Peru officials are indeed corrupt. They are corrupt by virtue of the fact that they very often base their decisions on directing taxpayer dollars to companies or individuals without due process of open bidding. In my mind that is the most basic form of "corruption". Sorry, but it's true.
