Some Cities Know This Others Deny It

Not in Peru! Government doesn't care about community in Peru! When was the last time there was a festival or an event held in Peru? The Maud Powell concerts are nice, but they only attract an older crowd and the parents of the band members. There's nothing for teens and younger to do in Peru.

Why do the same small majority who condemn taxes persist that the government should sponsor community events. Wake up people that is not why governments are created. I never see kids outside doing anything on their own, why are they not doing something in the park or at the YMCA? How many plant a garden? Are any kids doing volunteer work?Don't any play Little league baseball, youth football or grade school basketball? How many go to the library? I can go on and on.
The only difference between the teens and younger with things to do in some towns is the teens and younger-some want things to do and create others do not want things to do and don't create.
Who is supposed to promote things to do for their children the parents or the government?
I feel sorry for you if you are so irresponsible that you expect government care from the womb to the tomb!

The theme of the picture is Community is greater than Government. *;08 supports this title and than you argue with your own theme by telling 8;08 that she just don,t get it? Lois are you blonde?

8:08PM is telling us the kids don't do anything and the government should not get involved, I don't know where and what you are looking at.

I see that the Task Force's final meeting minutes and recommendations have been submitted to the city council. However, it appears that our council is not ready to let us know what the Task Force has recommended because there is no mention of it on Monday's city council agenda. I truly wish our government would start using the open door transparency policy they say we have and let us know what's happening in Peru.

Makes one think maybe the task force recommendation is nay for city administrator or you know Boss Harl would rush this to the agenda.

8:40 Have you ever thought that there is nothing to tell you yet.

7:03 pm so we have no right to know what happened with the task force committee YET? When would be a good time? I think the council should have addressed it as soon as they received their recommendation. That will be done behind closed doors in closed session and if it ends up that the city administrator position is not wanted, the taxpayers will never hear the results.

7:03 You make no sense. According to their minutes, which are posted on the city website, they have approved and submitted their written recommendations and have completed the mission they were asked to undertake.

The committee results are on a need to know basis. Don't worry. They know what is best. Involving to many citizens only complicates things.

11:35 What? Are you once again saying that the citizens don't need to be informed on what their governing body is doing? What are they trying to hide?

11:44 No one is trying to hide anything. All know that it is best to reach a decision without a lot of busy bodies interfering. Presently the best decision would be to accept that a final decision has not been made yet and you will be you what it is at the first acceptable time.

I personally attended all but one of the Task Force Meetings and respect all the people who took part in this difficult job. Whether the administration has accepted this decision in total or will they pick and choose what they like and what they don't. If they do the later, they make a mockery of the judgement of the Task Force.

Whatever they decide, the decision of the Task Force must be published as they wrote it and not as this administration wishes it were written.

We all know it has been discussed in closed session. I am not sure what the legalities of not releasing the entire text of this decision are be but I will be looking into it and I am sure others will too.

I think the task force recommendation wasn't on the agenda for last night because the mayor was absent from the meeting. Hopefully it will be on the agenda for the next council meeting. Looking at tonight's recreation board meeting, the airport manager will be there, so it looks like they will be discussing having fireworks at the airport. Wonder if the CSO will be in favor of that. They can still set up just like they do at Water Street, so I would think they would be ok with having them at the airport instead of Water Street. Maybe they're going to ask the airport manager about the Christmas light displays too.

8:53 A decision has apparently been reached by the Task Force and presented to the city council who then needs to vote on the decision. How can the council vote on something if it's not placed on the agenda word for word as presented by the Task Force? If they (the council) had no intention of doing just that, why did they waste these busy men's and woman's time and ask them to perform a job that they had no intention of abiding by if it wasn't what they wanted to hear?
