Sterling Main Street

Sterling Main Street

This city has gone through a lot and is fighting their way back. Interesting look at another city that is bigger than Peru but actually has things in common.  They have a Mall, they have lost manufacturing and populations changes. But looks like they have not lost their spirit. BTW they have an excellent City Manager.

Peru does not have a Festival Activity Page. It tells me that you did not even read it or maybe even look at it.
Peru does not engage in Family Fun Activities.

Lois, have you started a petition to change to a city manager type of government , you keep bringing it up.

The Mayors Task Force has completed their work and the results will be sent to the Council.

I think it is important to discuss openly all aspects or possible choices to improve city government. Maybe we should discuss why 52% of the population is female but the minority is totally in control at city hall. Perhaps we could discuss why we have so many new well paid department heads head quartered at city hall.

Maybe we should discuss the census data that suggests that Peru leads the Illinois Valley in older adults but not in those under 18 which includes the category of under age 5 in which we are also the lowest.

As to a petition for city manager, the same thing would happen as the pool referendum or the last city election. Not enough well informed voters and too much political moneyed clout here in Peru. Increasing department heads increases votes. Politics rules in Peru.

Lois, were you at the task force meeting? Did they state what their recommendation to the council will be? Aye or Nay to a city administrator?
