City Directory | The City of Countryside, Illinois

City Directory | The City of Countryside, Illinois

This is the city right above Peru in the so called "best city for business".  It is a city of about half our population and located in the Chicago area.  As I read the names and titles of those who actually run the city, I could only smile and decide to share with you. Hope it does the same for you.
Actually it is so different from Peru that I don't know why they are located so near to each other on the article.
I also read one of the city news letters in which the mayor encourages residents to get involved with the city and sign up to receive their email "blasts". Do you think this is one of the cities our mayor goes to visit?

If you've read the closed session minutes recently posted from the finance and safety meeting have they left you as frustrated as they left me. They are not minutes. They are topics that were discussed but which provide no transparency what-so-ever or insight as to what conclusions or results were reached with regards to the individual topics. An example would be that they discussed the acquisition of a specific property. No mention of what property, reason for wanting to purchase it, no conclusion at all. Why even bother posting such non-sense? I encourage people to read them and form their own conclusion as to whether or not this is transparency.

"The City of Countryside is not currently involved in any lobbying activities."

In all fairness - the caliber of people available in that area is a notch above our own little berg. That is why the current form of government will not work for us. We need Council-Manager, NOT Strong Mayor and Council. We need to be able to hire from outside the community.

Mayor's employment = Policy Development and Communications Director

Alderman 1 employment = Business Management position with fortune 500 company - retired.

Alderman 2 employment = Travel Industry Executive

Alderman 3's employment = School Administrator / College Professor - retired.

Alderman 4's employment = Former owner of a roofing company, currently executive at another one.

Alderman 5's employment = General Contractor

Alderman 6's employment = Owner of a frame manufacturing company

City Clerk - degree in accounting, employed as a business manager at a law firm

Interesting and diverse group of people.

I am missing your conspiracy on this one. What's the problem? This ranking was about business friendly cities, not sledding or fun days or fireworks or volunteers. Perhaps they will have a ranking of cities with the most of those activities and then you can shame our city. Not with with business thing. Sorry.

6;11 That's a good idea however, when minutes are released shouldn't they include details? If discussing the acquisition of a specific property - name the property, reason for wanting to acquire it, cost, what it would be used for, did we purchase it? It is my understanding that when closed session minutes are released that the issue under discussion has been resolved.

what was posted are not minutes - even if they call them that. They created that document to check a box with the open meetings act without actually disclosing what was talked about.
