This comment doesn't belong under this heading but I don't know where else to put it. Went running errands this morning and ran into several situations that I feel need mentioning. One of them is the question as to who is responsible for removing dead animals off of our city streets? Ran across several on my journey. Another comment is in regards to the infamous venture drive intersection. If you're heading west and need to turn left or south on Venture Drive you don't have to stop. Please tell that to the cars sitting at the stop sign heading east. Once again I had to lay on the horn and put on the brakes to avoid an accident. And then you have to hope that the car behind you is paying attention and doesn't rear end you.

The Turkey Vultures take care of the dead animals on the road. I haven't seen a city truck stop and scrape on off the pavement since the late 1970's.
Concerning the intersection. There is a big sign at that stop sign which says "Oncoming Traffic Does Not Stop" - people need to read the signage - not just assume things.

Contractors cutting grass at Parkside school this evening are blowing grass clippings onto Church St.

3:01 I know there's a sign there and I know what it says and I know people need to read it but the fact is some do not read the signs and some disobey the signs. I've seen many, many people do illegal turns at that corner, run stop signs at that corner, etc. etc. Just saying that you have to drive extremely defensively at that intersection.

6:30 PM - yup you are correct. It's up to you, not the other guy. What they can do is put a cop there during peak hours and start giving out tickets - fine them heavily, make them PAY with their pocketbook!

It is up to the individual to drive safely. If you see a car turning in front of you - stop. Very simple, pay attention to your surroundings and not your cell phone.

7:52 I am never on my cell phone while driving. Maybe the other driver should learn to read but my point is that the situation I mentioned happens frequently.

Actually, I really enjoy going through the intersection WEST bound. I drive a big truck and I gun it to make a lot of noise. When someone tries to run in front of me, I lay on the big air horn. Scares the bejesus out of them. I do the same for the U-Turners. But I kind of slow down to a crawl to prevent them from completing the maneuver.
