Wanted: A county administrator

Wanted: A county administrator

BUREAU COUNTY WILL BY HIRING A COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR AND PERU DOES SHARE A BORDER WITH BUREAU CTY.

Princeton already has a City Manager and is the county seat of Bureau.

Regarding our local situation, yes it does appear that Doug Bernabei's name is at the top of the list to be City Administrator along with Police Chief, Peru Twp Trustee and seems to be the lead figure on the new proposed regional 911 Dispatch Center to be located in Oglesby.

That County Administrator was far from a unanimous vote and if they hire one it may be a short tenure.

So what will his title be? Supreme Commander of all things Peru? Or... are we becoming Green Acres where Sam Druker held every government position?

From a whitepaper on city government.

“Management appears to be the key and the study provides some evidence for this. Cities with city manager forms of government are nearly 10 percent more efficient than cities with strong mayor forms of government. This finding appears to validate the assumption underlying city manager forms of government, notably that investing executive authority in professional management shielded from direct political interference should yield more efficiently managed cities. To put it another way, even if a city operates within conditions most favorable for efficiency – no collective bargaining, geographically compact, and peaking on all scale curves – management choices can still lead a city down the path to inefficiency. It is both a sobering and encouraging conclusion.” (https://governmentresource.com/files/IBM_SmartFastCheap.pdf)

I have heard plans from lasalle democrat party plans are in motion for Mautino to resign effective July 1 and name Harl to his seat...how will this effect peru?

Will waldorf be seated as mayor? Is that why 7 alderman and a the city clerk wrote endorsement letters for Waldorf seeking his strong recommendation for the publics vote

Did waldorf promise lots of things to these alderman

Who will be seated as alderman in 3? Ankiewicz

There are lots of ? To be answered here

It will be the State Democrat Party that will name Mautino's replacement. I don't think Madigan gives a hoot who Hicks thinks should be the heir to the Mautino legacy.

8:09 Why would the council want Waldorf as their mayor? He is definitely not the senior alderman nor the alderman with the best people skills.

You have some high tales and wishful thinking.

Why would the democratic party move on Mautino? Besides they would need to have Bureau County involved and that's never happening.

I don't think 7 alderman wrote endorsement letters for Waldorf.
I heard of just a few.

And what would make you think that the Democratic party would fill the position with a Mayor that received 34% voter approval last election?

Your drinking the wrong color Kool-Aid.

8:54, they wouldn't, Potthoff is Mayor pro ten, he would take over, if the timeline is so many years than they could have a special election.

It's hilarious and sad how much crap gets made up here. All of the conspiracies. People who think Harl is in charge. His political career outside of being mayor is over. Stop making crap up and spreading rumors. No one cares what you heard.

Mautino will need to be replaced by someone. Hopefully he will step down at the end of his term. I'd rather not have the State Democrat Party pick his replacement and then run him for "re-election." If Mautino runs again, I think he will be defeated. He lost LaSalle County by a few hundred votes - next time, the Republican candidate will win - either long or someone else. Our area is becoming quite conservative.

Conservative or Liberal - most people vote for whom they feel is the best candidate running and Frank has helped all who have asked.
i can't think of voting for anyone else.

Frank is here and will stay until he says so. Why bother with these coffee shops tales?

Most politicians will aspire to the next level. If Mayor Harl has those aspirations that is his choice. Peru has some very competent officials and I wouldn't worry about the future of Peru without Mayor Harl.

One thing that we all know is that change is certain. Every election has shown us change and the perils of life are about change.

Frank - as you call him since you apparently are on a first name basis with the guy - is culpable in sending this state into bankruptcy. He is one of the architects of the financial mess they call the state budget. He is the one that rallied the troops to kick the pension payment can down the road. He is part of the crew that cooked the books from one year to the next until there was nothing left to cook.

And not just as a representative. He is part of he senior leadership of the ruling party. He is and has been a key player on the finance committee. He is one of the quiet guys that gets things done for Madigan. He is the epitome of what is wrong with Illinois.

Why would Mautino resign when he was just re-elected?

Anonymous said...

9:08, he is not well. I wish him the best. But in true Illinois fashion, if he decides his health is worth more than Madigan, he will quit and let the Democrat Party appoint somebody. That way, whoever that person is will be able to run as an incumbent.

Anon 9:08 Yes, Rep Frank Mautino was just re-elected but because of a change in his life he has to make decisions which best work to the advantage of him and his family. He has succeeded in performing the responsibilities of being a State Representative, a wonderful and deep loving family man and now, recovering from a illness at the same time. Presently you can expect him to continue in his position any other changes will be determined by him. May God bless him as we are all praying for his full recovery.

Thank you and that should put an end to all the rumors circulating in the Valley.

9:06 you are incorrect the council would come to a vote to determine our next mayor if would resign. Being senior alderman does not guarantee that seat.
