Get a job Rat Man!

Right to Work in Illinois - 2015!

Personally, I think the rat attendants look worse than the workers at the job site. If you want to picket, get out of your chair and walk a proper picket line.....A Union Member

We need to figure out a way to know when the Rat will be showing up and stage a counter protest in support of Free Workers.

The Rat Man has rights, but so do the individuals and business exercising free market principals. If we know when and were the Rat will show up, people can be ready to counter the Rat Man's Socialist message.

8:23, some of your union brethren abide by the philosophy of why walk when you can sit. You see this in union shops a lot.

But you bring up a valid point. Isn't there a LAW that says you can't block a side walk and that anyone using the public right of way needs to be in content motion? They obviously can't set up their rat balloon on private property - how can they get away with putting it on the City Right of Way.
Furthermore, isn't the Rat Balloon considered a sing and would it not fall into the City of Peru Sign Ordinance? I think it would and it much bigger than authorized.

The rat is against city signage ordinance and thus should be removed

sing = sign - ha ha, sorry.

I noticed in last night's newspaper the hand grenade that was thrown at Peru Oficials about James Hardie had a logical and sensible reason of why the transformer was replaced. Nothing criminal and nothing but sound policy that many other communities follow. Supporting local business may be not be on the agenda for those challengers? Is that the message that those running for office want to send?

Sadly the 'rat' is a portrayal of the people using it. Instead of trying to disrupt the construction they should go to the owner and ask what they can do to help build a new business.

11:07, the story did not explain anything. Essentially, the NT reported that this is how it is done and how its always been done.
I would have liked the NT have verified this through other sources, maybe get some quotes from the IMEA. Maybe find out how Ameren handles these situations.

Then it would be a story with some information. As it is, the NT simply published what Harl said - no journalism. For all we know, Harl actually wrote it.

The RAT is an illegal sign. The City needs to prosecute the Rat Man for a violation of the City Ordinance!

I notice by your comment that you consider legitimate concern for irresponsible and wreckless spending of taxpayer dollars as a "hand grenade". The newspaper reported facts of the matter. Just some talking points screend by a lawyer. If "supporting local business" is defined in terms of how much Peru tax money can be funneled to subsidize large companies and corporations that do not need to be subsidized, then count me in as one who does not approve of that kind of "business support". Why would you call that "supporting business" when even the city acknowledged that James Hardie was responsible for the damage? So you believe that no matter what the cause to any of the city's electrical equipment, negligent or otherwise on the part of an industrial customer the citizens of Peru should always pay the cost? C'mon. That's not business friendly, that's just incompetence on the part of Harl and Lukosus. And you too.

"Facts of the Matter" giver me a break.
Peru supports local business" by transferring money from our General Fund to the bank account of the "local business."

wow 6.42

really? you don't really believe a direct deposit is made to local businesses from the general fund..do you??

2:56, essentially, yes.

2:56 there is no sense in trying to argue with the conspiracy theorists. The next thing you know, they will tell you that seven of the aldermen are "lining their pockets" while all the rest of us are "drinking the kool-aid."

No one is lining their pockets. These people (at least the ones I know) all care very much about the city of Peru. If one disagrees, one can vote their heart but I am so sick and tired of reading this kind of BS.

Tuesday will be here soon. I have a feeling the conspiracy theorists will kick it into higher gear when most if not all of their candidates lose. It's no bad an intelligent reasonable discussion could never be had here. Sadly these comments only serve to hurt the potentially strong candidates that are intended to support.

I hope you read the article in the N.T. regarding the election in Princeton. Now if we in Peru were given this time of information about what our candidates views are, we would be a much better informed electorate. We would have information to base our decisions are because the candidates actually offered it to the news media. But as usual Peru does not wish to have an open and honest discussion and that is why what you see blogged his is what many believe is always true and it is not. This is a blog where opinions are offered.

Why is it that the Peru Government will not answer questions in an official setting with what passes as the news medial around here present?
The NT and WLPO don't go to committee meetings. So even if a normal person takes time off work to ask a question at a committee, it won't be reported. Then some of them say, call me. Well. I think I'm going to start doing that and recording the call. That way, we can catch them lying.

The Rat is illegal signage in Peru daring someone of authority to enforce the ordinance. Those designated to enforce the sign laws do not have the guts to do their jobs and only react to a complaint with appeasements to certain organizations.
This law should be enforced or any corporation looking to Peru for a future site will not locate here. Executives do not locate in strong union towns nor will they come into a town which they knowingly have a union confrontation waiting for them.
In most towns the unions confront the corporation after they locate there, in Peru we have a group out of townees with a Rat in wait for the corporation to arrive. This is a loser and should be stopped. We need jobs and must learn how to acquire them with 2015 methods not 1935 pickets.

Why is the City allowing Dunking Donuts in town anyway? That is a huge CORPORATION and they will be taking business AWAY from LOCAL donut shops that have been here for many years! WE NEED TO STOP THEM FROM OPENING. SEND MORE RATS! THEY ARE TRYING TO SHUT DOWN LOCAL BUSINESS!

8:51, Dunkin Donuts has been around here longer than most donut shops, do you remember when they were where Maria's pizza was? Get over yourself, if other shops put out a good product they will survive.

Anonymous said...

We have a donut shop that has existed in Peru since BEFORE DUNKING EXISTED! THAT SHOULD BE THE ONLY SHOP ALLOWED IN PERU! We need to KEEP the 1% OUT OF PERU!

10:30, you definitely have some problems going, this is what you call free enterprise, not monopolize, take a pill settle down and only go to your favorite donut shop, nobody really cares.

I'm a good Democrat and I believe in protecting what we have.

Anonymous said...

I'm glad your a good democrat, all the donut shops are part of what we have, keep that in mind.

WalMart makes donuts at their store, and I'll bet that a lot of their sales are to union brothers. Have often wondered why the unions are so anxious to take on a small project such as Dunkin' Donuts but when it comes to WalMart they run and hide the Rat.
The city officials are aware that the Rat is considered a oversized sign by ordinance. Why are they not enforcing the law? The Rat was stinking up the town again today on Shooting Park Road.

Where are the individuals from that are with the rat? Are they members of a union. Silly question? I know of a location which the men picketing were sent out from the state unemployment agency, Paid a low non union scale and not members of a union.
There was also a union hall which employed a maintenance man who they paid below their own union scale? This was a major union?

It's called Operating Engineers Local 150, probably the most corrupt union local in the county. "You know who" gets support from that union.
